http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =5GqBn8hP-QQ God damn! Coldplay is already being sued by Joe Satriani for ripping off their song for "Viva La Vida" , and now Cat Stevens accuses that Coldplay is ripping off his 1973 song, "Foreigner Suite " too? Stevens is still thinking about taking legal action on this, but damn! I feel so bad for Coldplay.
Cat Stevens (now known as Yusuf) is one of those artists that I will always love. Years may come and go, but my love of Cat Stevens and his music will remain. I'm pretty defensive about him too. When he was denied entry into the U.S. back in 2004 I felt personally attacked. "Listen to his songs! How could that man support terrorism!?" And with the release of Roadsinger , his second album under the name Yusuf, I remembered why I'm so in love. At its best Roadsinger is a throwback to the halcyon [...]
Two weeks ago, ChordStrike posted a new video from Yusuf , and the commentary was acrid, to say the least. Good stuff, readers! Well now, for a limited time only, we've got a second exclusive video from the man formerly known as Cat Stevens . This one's for the title track from his new album, Roadsinger . Fans better bring it; currently, the detractors have the floor, and they're nothing if not incensed. Check it out: [...]

St. Vincent is releasing her sophomore album, " Actor ," this week and, from the looks of it, it already announces itself as being one of 09's best. One of the most prolific singer/songwriters of our time, Cat Stevens , is releasing a new album this week as well, under his muslim name Yusuf Islam, dubbed " Roadsinger ." Another really sweet release is " White Lies for Dark Times " by Ben Harper & Restless 7 . Let's not forget about the new material from the likes of Conor Oberst, Paul Potts, Akron/Family or [...]

Originally I wasn't going to bother blogging about The Decemberists ' The Hazards Of Love CD, simply because everybody else already has . The thing is, I think it's only fair that I provide my readers with a reason why I've been terribly negligent about listening to anything else over the past month, and that reason, as you may have already guessed, is due to the fact that this album exists. It's brilliant, it's addictive and, to be quite honest, it's the album that I've been waiting 20 years for. It's true that this [...]
Hi and welcome to another news roundup bringing you the latest in music, art and entertainment. Well, it's another bank holiday Monday and it looks like everyone has been sleeping as the entertainment websites just contain news stories which are not really relevant to anyone living in England. Thankfully, some sites have not dozed off and I have managed to find a selection of bands that have some gigs coming up in this month. So in todays roundup, we have the news on Coldplay supposedly stealing a song, Amy Winehouse banning paparazzi from her London residence, Ben Stiller in a [...]

Chris Martin and co. seem to have mastered the art of the generic pop-rock song when they wrote the title track for their last album Viva La Vida . Why else would the British alt-rockers keep finding themselves under scrutiny from other musicians accusing Coldplay of ripping them off? First it was Joe Satriani , claiming the foursome stole the melody for "Viva la Vida" from his song "If I Could Fly", but now Cat Stevens has joined in on the drama, claiming the band actually ripped off the melody [...]

Coldplay's track, "Viva La Vida," has been mired in controversy about the origin of it's melody since it's release last year. First, the Creaky Boards made the claim with their track "The Songs I Didn't Write." Then, Joe Satriani tried, claiming that the hit was a rip-off of his 2004 tune "If I Could Fly." Now, NME is reporting that Cat Stevens is making the claim that "Viva La Vida" bites off of his "Foreigner Suite." I don't know if any of these claims are true, nor do I care, but doesn't [...]

MUSIC NEWS - Renowned singer-songwriter Yusuf (the artist once known as Cat Stevens ) is back ready to once again strike up an intimate relationship with his audience. After retreating from the pop stage following classic '70s multi-platinum albums such as Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat and acclaimed hits such as " Wild World," "Peace Train," "Moonshadow," "Morning Has Broken" and "Father And Son ," Yusuf returned in late 2006 with his first pop album in 28 [...]

With his reintroduction to the pop world behind him, renowned singer-songwriter Yusuf (the artist known as Cat Stevens) is ready to once again strike up an intimate relationship with his audience. After retreating from the pop stage following classic '70s multi-platinum albums such as Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat and acclaimed hits such as "Wild World," "Peace Train," "Moonshadow," "Morning Has Broken" and "Father And Son," Yusuf returned in late 2006 with his first pop album in 28 years. Now a second album, roadsinger (to warm you through the night), in stores May 5, 2009 (UMe). [...]
Along with bands like The Eagles and ABBA, Cat Stevens is a megastar that is known largely for his greatest hits. It's a shame, really, because a closer look shows that the seventies troubadour had a string of great albums - nine in the years between 1970-1978.
Harold and Maude fans, unite!--- For a limited time only, we've got an exclusive video of "Thinking 'Bout You" from Roadsinger , the new album by Yusuf (a.k.a. Cat Stevens) . Check it out: -- Jason Kirk
Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) returns with only his second album in nearly 30 years. My gamut of emotions while listening to the self-deprecatingly lowercase-titled album, roadsinger , ranged from joy to fury.
Although best known for yielding three top 40 hits, Teaser and the Firecat hides some lesser known treasures among its ten songs. It's also the pinnacle of Cat Stevens' chart and artistic successes, capping off an incredible three album run that includes Mona Bone Jakon and Tea for the Tillerman .
MUSIC NEWS - To support the release of his new, ROADSINGER album, YUSUF (formerly Cat Stevens) is scheduled to appear Sunday, May 3 in NYC at a "secret" concert at the Highline Ballroom . Tickets are not on sale, available by invitation only. And no word on a Yusuf tour, though he is appearing in the UK on May 28 as part of the Istand Records 50th Anniversary celebration. MNN will keep you posted...

The third episode of Later...with Jools Holland continues some themes from the previous two. For the second week running it features a singer from Mali as well as another ska band from the Two-Tone label. The established singer-songwriter is Cat Stevens and three up-and-coming acts also appear Growing up in the eighties, one of the bands that I heard most often on the radio was the English ska band Madness . The majority of their hits appeared in this decade and they were invariably accompanied by humorous promotional videos. The combination of these [...]
