And so concludes The Great Escape Festival , which always turns into the biggest weekend of our calendar year. It's been four days since the event finished, yet our hangovers have barely receded. On one of the nights we finally reached our bed at 8am! A marathon indeed. Below is our review of a handful of experiences and exploits, but in truth it's pretty impossible to extol the real experience in words. Sure we had an amazing time, with lots of live music and venue hopping, but as a Brighton resident every other week of the year, we noticed [...]
It's fair to say that Cave Painting have been turning out some insanely infectious pop over the last 12 months. We requested the 5 piece come visit us down in the Bowleg basement, thankfully they obliged and performed this great version of Gator .

As you can see on our About section, we pride ourselves on throwing at least one mean party every year at The Great Escape Festival . As we build up to what will be our third consecutive year in a row we're now well known for this annual shindig. As 300 bands and the entire UK music industry descend on Brighton's seaside for a weekend of new music, we do our best to provide a genuine highlight among the many highlights. This year should prove to be one of the most exciting shows we've ever [...]
I first heard "Missing" by Maker a couple of months ago. I liked what the band was doing, but found this specific track to be a little underwhelming. The disco beat and female vocals felt a little played out to me. However, this remix done by Cave Painting is exquisite. Breaking the song down to it's rawest, and then building on it, really showed me how strong the vocals and lyrics are in this track. Specifically, the repeating of "touch me while I'm young" becomes haunting and incredibly emotive. This is how you do a remix, Cave Painting completely [...]

It's rare for a remix to become so much more than the sum of its parts, particularly when the parts are pretty uninteresting. But, proving that good things can be built from unassuming constituents, Brighton's Starsailor-alike Cave Painting have worked unsettling miracles with some straight-outta-2009 landfill indie-pop. In Cave Painting's hands, Maker 's 'Missing' is shorn of its saccharine excesses and becomes something totally gripping. Hushed, late-night-early-morning vocals eventually give way to a fit-inducing percussion breakdown of the sort one [...]

Hey everyone , my name is Marcus, I've been writing at A Pocket Full Of Seeds for the last 2 years and it's great to now also be contributing to Loudersoft . To kick off my innings on this new corner of the web I want to write about a band called Cave Painting , more specifically a phenomenal remix they posted last week. Listening to a band for the first time, especially when actively trying to find material worthy of a blog post, mixtape or whatever, [...]

"When all is said and done, touch me while I'm young," may be one of the most shoulder-raising eye-screwing uncomfortably strange lyrics you'll hear on a song on Breaking More Waves, but feature it we did. The lyric in question is from Missing a song by Brighton's Maker who first came to our (and quite possibly your) attention at the start of February . Now the band have got all remixed by Cave Painting [...]

Photo by Rebecca Thomas London's Andy Blake is seemingly as disinterested in doing things by half as he is by doing them the easy way. After maintaining a breathless pace of releases for three years with his label Dissident - averaging a brand new, vinyl-only, single-sided, limited-pressing 123 record every three weeks or so - Blake pulled the plug at the end of 2009. This was just as the city's disco revival was hitting its peak, aided in no small part by the label's releases from Gatto Fritto, Discodromo and Neville Watson. In the following two [...]

Brighton quintet Cave Painting have released a video for their free track 'Gator'. You can grab the track here , and watch the video below. The brand new track is a preview of their debut album, which is due later this year.
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: Cave Painting Video: "Gator" Highlight: "Gator is one of our older songs and was written shortly after the death of my Grandfather," vocalist Adam Kane tells Spinner. "The lyrics reflect the idea of death and the insecurities around it as well as pondering life, but also the idea of making the most of the life we have been given. So I'd like to think it is a hopeful song, however the video juxtaposes this and is slightly darker in [...]

So they say that Dissident Records died back in 2009. This UK label, headed by notorious EDM aficionado Andy Blake achieved cult status for its consistent top-notch quality and refreshingly purist approach to recording and distributing music. With little to no internet presence or marketing outreach, the label simply let the music speak for itself. It was built with a lofty and genuine ideal, and low and behold, they came. Featuring artists such as Den Haan , Hard Ton , Cage & Aviary , Clap Rules , Neville Watson and many others, [...]

[ Cave Paintings ] Those keeping tabs on the crude daubings of Cave Paintings know the score by now. One session, one take. All analog, all Andy Blake, mastered directly to the vinyl lathe, with no digital interference. Cave Paintings appears to be the most personal of all of Blake's passion projects, but after the ferociously prolific and short-lived of output of Dissident, and with the newest of his new labels, In [...]

Cave paintings are an historical phenomenon that date back as far as 33,000 years BC. Cave Painting ― that is, the band ― have been around in their current form for a little over a year, yet are already leaving a definable mark on the Brighton music scene. Last November, a few short months after their formation, the band released their debut EP. You'll Be Running Soon showcases their quiet, considered, but ably funky and immediate indie-pop sound, revealing them to be akin to a Wild Beasts you could take home to your [...]
Absolutely love this. Cave Painting - Rio www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoJzCd BNoXU

Most folks know that we are a blog based in the coastal city of Brighton, UK. We're proud to be associated with this city and even more so when it produces new bands as good as this local five-piece. However, we believe that Cave Painting have exactly what it takes to reach well beyond Brighton's city limits and take on the world, as their brand of soaring, emotive, indie pop music has enormous potential. Stadium-sized potential. Their EP, You'll Be Running Soon , has been released in recent weeks and holds [...]

But it's not just the Pistols' music that helped form a new politically minded artist -- it was their graffiti as well. As the BBC reports, a London flat that the Pistols' Johnny Rotten , Sid Vicious and other members shared in 1975 still bears the [...]
