Cerrone, "Je Suis Music" ( YSI link ) 320 Cerrone, "Rocket In The Pocket" ( YSI link ) 320 Okay, I've got the computer back from the shop, I've finally come to terms with the fact that I am now living in a post-Obama, post-Phillies World Series Champions world. The time off has perhaps left many afraid that this blog would lose its way, no longer confident of its direction or what to post. Au contraire, these recent developments have only confirmed what I have always known - disco will save the [...]

Last week I was so caught up in election hoop-la that I forgot to post a new favorite song. Well, this is it. The big one. Nothing better. This is my favorite song. Cerrone - Give Me Love Jean-Marc Cerrone has some real serious jams. From Love in C Minor to Supernature, he produced some of the most foot-stomping disco of the late 70's and early 80's. Give Me Love is my favorite song of his to play out. Starting with a double-time stereo [...]

Musicmarkers Ltd - Havah Nagilah (MP3) After raiding my Italo collection this morning, it would seem that I am going into dodgy territory again. Don't worry though, Musicmarkers Ltd pull out all the stops on this one. Taking their inspiration from a traditional Hebrew folk song, 'Havah Nagilah', they use the original middle eastern influences, blend it together with some more modern sounds, and then turn it into a massive, Cerrone sounding, Jewish disco monster... Let us rejoice. Note: This is a re-post due to popular [...]

I like disco. But I'm not talking cheesy disco. When you think of disco now, you probably have a mental image of a double-disc CD sitting at the back of a dusty shelf in your parent's living room called '...And The Beat Goes On!! 40 Groovy Dance Hits of the 70's!' with a crappy tie-dye effect cover that they got for christmas in 1991. The type of disco that I'm trying to articulate isn't the sort of disco played in clubs with [...]

there's something reassuring about all the disco sampling in house music... download here carol williams - love is you, sampled on spiller - groovejet cerrone - look for love, sampled on bob sinclair - i feel for you chic - soup for one, sampled on modjo - lady chicago - [...]

June 22, 2008 "Overflow" - Thanks Kiyoshi for the idea, all flash players from now on will stop automatically when you hit play on another track. Less clicks for you, more code for me. PS. I saw Danger, Crookers, Spitzer, Dj Funk, etc last night! Danger's visuals and performance was amazing. ( Stream ) Download: Cerrone - Lie To Me (Barbara Tucker and James D-Train Mix) Cerrone is a classic disco group. [...]

I have to admit, I am a big fan of video games. Maybe it was my growing up with 2 younger brothers who are relatively close in age to me. Maybe it is my penchant for all things technology. (I am a huge technology nut...it really gets my nads pumping. If I had nads.) For instance, as a young lass, I would slave and toil away at the wondrous Commodore 64 game known to humans as Coil Cop. That game was my crack. Literally. I would perfect my moves to the point where I ended up [...]
20jazzfunkgreats consider it a crying shame that what could well be the crowning achievement of British popular culture this century, GTA IV is being greeted with all sorts of desultory and misinformed comments from the usual sanctimonious scaremongering suspects, who of course haven't played it. The game is a thing ...

Jean-Marc Cerrone is the true embodiment of disco. With his sleazy steaze he brought immense talent to the genre and sold millions of records. He is a French music producer that got his start playing drums in rock bands, and then as an orchestra leader for Club Med. He started putting out records under his own name in 1976 and hasn't stopped since. His first album, Love In C Minor helped craft the sound of disco. The title track at 14:57 long paints Cerrone as the French Barry White. Supernature [...]
The original French touch. Cerrone - Midnight Lady (Off Love in C Minor) Green Velvet feat. Walter Phillips - Shake and Pop Awesome track from a Chicago House legend. Steve Aoki is releasing a mixtape, Pillowface & And His Airplane Chronicles and features this track with Kid Sister on vox.

To honor the birthday of my wife, Maura, Queen of Animals, here's a heartwarming little tale from Unexpected #197 (April 1980). I'm positively certain she'd approve of its message. Larry, a plucky orphan lad, has a job at the all-kill shelter run by the shify Mr. Griggs. (It's all part of the " This is how the world works; You better get used to it now, kid " vocational training/soulcrushing program enacted by the Bush Administration in 2002.) Damn, and I borrowed against my [...]

I knew Cerrone was supposed to have some good tunes, but side 1 of this album contains some of the baddest disco music ever . I heard this out once (Tim Sweeney played it before Lindstrom came on, it slayed) and at the time I thought it was Goldfrapp ... whoops. Hey they only named their album after it and used it as entrance music in their concerts, I got confused. Just goes to show how modern it sounds. The lyrics are super-dark! Perversions of science create beasts who take their revenge .... see creepy-as-fuck [...]

My review of Stephan Bodzin's "Liebe Ist..." single. Fairly eager to see how the full-length turns out. Robot Needs Oil, "Volta" [Arts & Crafts] Cerrone, "Supernature" [released on so many different labels it doesn't matter] Yello, "Oh Yeah" (Booka Shade remix) [Universal] Psyche, "Neurotic Behavior" [Planet E]

CERRONE - SUPERNATURE (FULL LENGTH ALBUM VERSION) Hi Everybody! I felt like some Euro-Disco today and therefore choose the 1977 track Supernature by French musician Cerrone . This track can be found on his album Cerrone 3 - Supernature , which I highly recommend. For your viewing pleasure enjoy this 1977 video of Supernature . Now go out dancing!

This edition is my favorite so far. I think most of you will be as shocked as I was to hear some of these tracks. I couldn't have put this together without the inspiration from the girl Elizabeth - she put it well: as you hear these tracks you'll either decide Daft Punk isn't as genius as you thought they were or that they're twice as amazing. I just know that for any Daft Punk fan out there- these tracks are essential. In other words, don't skip this one. [...]
Monday was a busy night in Austin. Actually, it was the kind of evening that makes you wonder what other cities have on our provinicial backwater burg ... until you remember all the other nights you really wish you were somewhere else. *ahem* But really, can you imagine anywhere else (maybe besides the glam metros of the world) where a crowd of nearly 100 people gathered in our beloved firetrap of a movie theater that serves beer and food to see Austin's very best nouveau no wave band ( [...]
