Filed under: Exclusive , RPM , New Music , Q + A Richmond Lam CFCF 's latest EP Exercise s is an eight-track array of airy synth ruminations, exquisite, tentative and masterful, diverging from the balearic pop of previous releases for territory somewhere between Philip Glass and Roger O'Donnell. We sat down the 24-year-old Montreal producer to discuss [...]

Und..... Beck ? No, we're afraid not that one. For a sincere fan of Beck, this song is welcome news this week. Beck's cover of "I Only Have Eyes For You" could be attributed to many different artists over the years and made most popular by The Flamingos , but the uniqueness of each one is what makes the song so special. A full list of everyone who's covered this song can be found here if that interests you. As a second tier of info to this dreamy and oddly high-quality version [...]

As the last strand of summer’s warmth retreats and our Uni Easter-break nears its end, the cool chills of a Melbournian winter paves the way for curling up in bed; wrapped in a doona and trying to study. If ever there was a soundtrack to the feeling of winding down after a booze-filled holiday and settling back into real life- CFCF has created it with his 8-track record Exercises . That’s not to say it’s depressing, not in the slightest, the uplifting and graceful nature of the record is reminiscent of [...]
I was in Montreal (circa 2010), visiting my girlfriend. She went to Concordia. We were walking from her house on Avenue de l'Hotel de Ville after a long night of three dollar Jameson shots from Miami (really called Montenegro , but I'm splitting hairs here). Montreal is prideful of its large underground city ; I enjoy meandering hangover walks in malls and shopping plazas. I was in the American Apparel, and this song came on. I could faintly here the chorus for 'Teach Me How To Dougie' in the background, but couldn't quite tell what song it was. [...]

Elite Gymnastics By Stef Siepel The Weekly Froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer’s fancy. Track of the Week: ‘Here, in Heaven 4& 5’ by Elite Gymnastics (CFCF remix) Oh wow, I love how serene it starts, with the piano and the seeming echo and everything [...]

CFCF really couldn't have come up with a more appropriate title for his latest EP, Exercises, which, aside from being a really good record, is a meditation on brutalist architecture and the pretty (and sometimes ... read more
CFCF Exercise #5 (September) This is my favorite release by prolific electronic artist CFCF so far, and not just because September is my birthday month. CFCF’s Philip Glass inspired latest creation is just incredible. Complexity and technical precision set CFCF mountains and leaps above the rest, not to mention his moody, textural beats ripple across your speakers like nothing else. The wait for one of GITNB’s most anticipated releases of 2012 is (finally) almost over. DOWNLOAD Exercises #5 for free HERE . CFCF’s Exercises [...]

by teepoo We're back with Remix Sundays! Here's some great remixes. Elite Gymnastics- Here, In Heaven (CFCF Remix)

I just read about two directors that shall remain nameless that have interest in "rebooting" some old 802s movies. With all the money that is being made in Hollywood, why not come up with something new? Redoing "Back to the Future" would end up becoming a bastardized knockoff of "Karate Kid" with Jayden Smith. Pieces of my childhood getting chopped up and screwed is not how I envisioned the future of cinema. I guess it's inevitable, just leave "Better Off Dead" alone. MVP (TYR Remix) - Big L [...]
