Autopsy IV is on his annual pilgrimage to strap a board to the bottom of his feet and slide down mountains. While he is away 9B will feature a collection of guest posts. Today's post comes from our good buddy Shawn Kellogg who reviews a show I hope to make it out to one year...the annual Slim Cessna's Auto Club New Years Eve show. To those of you that are lucky enough to live and be apart of the wonderful Denver music [...]

Sometimes all you need to make a record is your voice and your guitar. That's what singer-songwriter Chad Price , vocalist of alt.country band Drag The River uses uses his album Smile Sweet Face , with Rick Stef adding pinches of accordion to three of the tracks. The Ault, Colorado based composer is an admirer of Townes Van Zandt (lyrics) and Sam Cooke (phrasing), adn it shows in the ten sad songs that make up this album. With a running time of a mere 39 minutes a high grade vinyl [...]

Friday is another one of those rare (or not so rare) days in Austin that comes around every once and a while that blows the minds of us music types. The day is so jammed full of music goodness that we are dedicating a whole post just to Friday's shows. Which one are you headed to? The Parish : Elvis Perkins & A. A. Bondy @ 8pm for $14 . Mohawk : Bishop Allen and Darwin [...]

Back in mid-October Chad Price and a merry crew departed from the offices of Suburban Home Records in a party van with the intent of doing 10 shows at 10 different breweries in support if Chad's new album, Smile Sweet Face ( 9b.net review ). Our good internet buddy (and stellar show taper) James Freeman from That's The Thing About That went along for the ride to record the shows. He culled those recordings down to the best from it all and released it earlier this week and [...]

This might be a little off the farm for some of ya' but here is an album from an ol' boy I saw quite by accident and ended up hangin' with (read: got way too wasted with) all night... I was headed out to see Jason Boland at The Firehouse for the umpteenth time and left too early or didn't stop and eat so I got there before the opening act had even started. You see I usually skip the opening acts for most bands I go see and that may be kind of [...]

Last week our own RomeoSidVicious wrote a terrific piece on the new Chad Price album, Smile Sweet Face . I don't really have anything to add to his posting about the album except for a possible "yeah! what he said!" but I do have the next best thing... A FULL ALBUM STREAM . That's right kids. Suburban Home has been kind enough to lend us their full stream of the album so be sure to read RSV's eloquent musings on the album while listening to the [...]

Drag The River/All singer Chad Price's solo debut is in the running for album of the year and as far as I am concerned it's there without a doubt. I've had this album for a few days now and I have been trying to put how I felt about into words and failing. To start with I love the album from start to finish but I haven't been able to find the words to impart how Smile Sweet Face makes me feel. I can't review this album by just telling you how cool Chad's lyrics are or how [...]

More freebies from those kind people at Suburban Home This is a really exciting day. We are proud to be able to offer our digital releases to you in our online store. I know, I know, "welcome to 1999". Yes, I know we are a bit slow to make this happen, but better late than never right? Well, you might ask why we would want to sell our digital releases directly when folks can get our albums on Itunes, Amazon, and so on. Without going into [...]
Chad Price, of Drag the River and All, embarks on what seems like the most fun tour ever. First of all, it's short -- only one day long. Secondly, it's a tour of Colorado breweries. The tour is ... Continue reading "Chad Price to Play 10 Shows In 1 Day" >

Next month a good chunk of the Suburban Home roster is gonna convene upon Denver for a weekend of music, BBQ, garage sales and plenty of drinking. Having mostly recovered from my revelry up in Minneapolis and still being pretty bitter about Two Cow Garage not coming to the Tampa Bay area, I'm doing what any other stupid fuck with no money and less sense does: I'm quoting Tim Barry, saying "fuck tomorrow and fuck all the yesterday's" and flying to Denver. Yup, good ol' Autopsy IV is gonna exchange flat Florida's heat for Denver's elevation [...]
We've been pointed in the direction of a couple of online freebies recently, ones that seemed worth sharing. The first is from a band called The Runaway Five who have a five track EP called Raygunomics available for free download from their website, just click here. It is a mix of indie and power pop, and you've got nothing to lose through checking it out.Secondly, Urban Outfitters have made a 21

This coming weekend, pop-punk pioneers All will be second billed on the final night of Riot Fest in Chicago. The event is notable because it will feature former lead singer Scott Reynold's on the mic once again. Don't know All? Here's why you should. Most people are familiar with the Descendents - whose songs have been covered by Sublime, Face To Face, Blink-182 (the list goes on and on) but only a fraction of these listeners are acquainted with All. All formed when Descendents lead singer, famed nerd Milo Aukerman, left the band to pursue his doctorate in [...]
