Chad VanGaalen isn’t supposed to be a solo artist. He was in a 2 man band called Broken Ankles with his friend Eric Hamelin. But then Eric moved away. So Chad kicked it in his basement, played the guitar and created some art. (He animated his own video for the song Clinically Dead.) The result was his first commercially available album Infiniheart. Another two records I've been spinning next to non-stop -- and have recently posted to Stereogum -- are VanGaalen's Skelliconnection and The Roots crew's return to form on Game Theory .
