Tonight, Tractor Tavern will host three of my favorite Brooklyn indie-pop acts (one of which is sort of from Denver). Miniature Tigers are releasing a new album on March 6th entitled Mia Pharoah . The album is full of playful electro-pop with addictive falsetto melodies - think Hot Chip and Of Montreal mashed together with a touch of Orange Juice. I went to see Tapes 'n Tapes late last week in Denver. Well, actually, I went to see The Chain Gang of 1974 who was opening for Tapes 'n Tapes. Wayward Fire is a bright, hook-laden, bouncy affair that takes your face and rubs it in its subwoofer big beats. I'll be the first to admit that I expected a group when I listened to The Chain Gang of 19742s June 21 release, "Wayward Fire." I didn't get what I thought I would in terms of the number of people involved, but I can't complain about Kamtin Mohager whatsoever. Confusion of spirit will not be found in The Wayward Fire, the third album by The Chain Gang of 1974.
