Over the next couple of weeks, we will be counting down the Top 100 Oklahoma Albums of the 2000s . Every weekday, we will unveil another ten Oklahoma albums that helped shape the way Oklahoma music is heard by the outside world. We asked three dozen musicians, fans and journalists for their opinions on the top albums of the past decade. With their guidance and our own opinions, we compiled what we hope is a decent and fair list. Hopefully, there's a good bit of reflection, discovery and enjoyment when listening to these albums [...]

As many of you are well aware this last Saturday played host to the First Annual Norman Music Festival , and for a first time festival I think things went extremely well. The lineup was great and the price was right. Really where else are you going to see some seriously kick ass bands for Free? Nowhere! There were 3 stages all within walking distance of each other, but far enough away there wasn't any sound bleed over. Well one of the stages was inside the Sooner Theater so there wasn't any real threat of [...]

I t's countdown time - at least for the coordinators of the 1st Annual Norman Music Festival (which I am now officially referring to as Maverik). This Saturday 26 April! Upwards of 30 bands playing on/at something like 4 or 5 venues. Pedestrian traffic only on the Garner Corridor Arts District. Free beer . No, not really. Food and drink vendors - including 6 dollar vegetarian Frito Chili Pie, drink and a rice crispy treat at the Opolis . [...]

There are far too many bands out there with far to little to say that interests me. It's pretty fortunate that there aren't actually too many times I say that [...]
Chainsaw Kittens , the Norman, Oklahoma grunge-era alternative rock favorites, will reunite at the first annual Norman Music Festival on Saturday, April 26. The band has been on hiatus for seven or eight years, following the release of 2000's The All American. Since then, singer Tyson Meade has been a radio deejay for the now defunct Oklahoma indie rock station 105.3 The Spy, taught English classes in New York City and Shanghai and [...]
"We shall overcome though, Mike. We shall overcome. Do you wanna surf the Web on my phone?" -- Tom, helping Mike cope with the lack of a computer on his side of the glass "They're good songs that just happen to be about video games." -- WNBC news anchor Sue Simmons, praising the deep cuts on Buckner and Garcia's Pac-Man Fever "If you're ever hungry again at an amusement park, leave." -- Tom, advising against a second culinary adventure "You go up 200 feet in [...]
