Whilst on tour with fellow Halfway House alums Chamberlin - Chicago's Fort Frances were kind enough to swing by Stone House Recording to play a few songs for us. Influences include Wilco, Josh Ritter, The Jayhawks and The Beatles though if your a fan of Midwestern folk/rock - then you'll most certainly enjoy this band. And this session. Two of the three tracks come from their debut album The Atlas with the third being an unreleased tune. [...]

Chamberlin - Lost In The World [Kanye West ft. Bon Iver] | zs

It's coming on 2012, and all around us, bloggers tout their 2011 taste, jostling to be the best and first match for your own preferences, inviting debate over position in the ranks. And so, as we do every year as the calendar comes to a close, we struggle with the conceit of The Year In Review, surveying a year's worth of posts, writing a never-ending series of half-hearted drafts, flinching every time we approach the task, yet feeling guilt every time we put it down. My reluctance to pass judgement isn't a cop-out. [...]

Fresh of their last tour, the rag tag group of Vermonters, Chamberlin , is back with a new holiday single "In the Bleak Midwinter." It's a traditional Christmas hymn that keyboardist Eric Maier said was "arranged to reflect the classical, choral tradition with a modern, electronic edge," a description that does the song way more justice than I could. Much like their song, "Sixty Days", the song centers on extensive vocal harmonies backed by a simple grand piano. It's another tune to come out of their Goshen, VT cabin and I think the population of 200 well [...]
Cover songs are a very delicate genre. Sometimes they're a gateway to earning notoriety. (James Blake's take on Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" only bolstered his fame.) Other times, covers are a misfire that insult the original's splendor. (Dee Snider and Eddie Ojeda's attempt at The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" is cringe-worthy.) So, when an artist releases a collection of covers, one has the right to be wary. Luckily, Vermont band Chamberlin' s step-up to the covers plate is decent, but it falls short of instant covers canonical material. The [...]

This past August, Vermont's Chamberlin (@chamberlinmusic) offered to let fans select the tracks for their newest EP Cabin Covers . While this may have been a somewhat risky tactic, I have to commend both the final choices and the band's ability to transform them - few outfits could successfully genre-shift Kanye West . A collection of stripped down, folk-driven remakes, the songs on Cabin Covers manage to uncover new depth in the songs' originals and breathe life and imagery into the Vermont mountain cabin where [...]

Chamberlin is back in town again headlining an East Coast swing and raising money for Vermont flooding victims. Last time we checked in with them, they had just released Bitter Blood , were about to start a summer sprint, and were on the brink of losing their first, beloved trailer. This time they are coming through on their aptly named "Double American Tour" and have recently finished "cabinizing" (yeah, that's a verb) some familiar tunes from some ATG all-time favorites, including Passion Pit and Foster the People. Chamberlin are a formidable presence on stage, [...]
I played Foster The People's Torches in my car for months this past summer, feeling young and carefree with my windows rolled down and scaring old ladies with my powerful bass. "Pumped Up Kicks" must've rattled around in my eardrums, coursed through the breeze 50 or 60 times. Not once did I make a real [...]
At the risk of sharing a song that some people might be tiring off (although it hasn't really reached an over-saturation level for me personally), I'm going to share the cover that Chamberlin did of Foster the People's smash hit, Pumped Up Kicks . Chamberlin recorded the cover after fans voted for its inclusion in the group's covers EP. The band is teaming up with Vermont Coffee to offer the proceeds of the EP's sales to the flood victims of Hurricane Irene in Vermont and in their community. You can purchase it at their website . [...]

Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: Chamberlin Video: 'Little Secrets ( Passion Pit Cover)' Highlight: "We filmed this video for 'Little Secrets' with film-maker Matthew Day at some cliffs nearby our cabin in Goshen, Vt., over the summer," Chamberlin's Ethan West tells Spinner. "We first recorded the song in the cabin last February to give away as a bonus track to folks who pre-ordered our record 'Bitter Blood.' At first we weren't sure if our acoustic version would work, given [...]
