I don't know where bands get their names from these days. I mean, seriously. Rems Floating Chandelier? I guess the less sense the name makes, the more authentic the band is. ...Kidding. I hope. Luckily, this very new trio (started in March, 2011), from Northern Virginia, deserves to call themselves whatever they want, because their dream pop is exquisite. Electronic samples make up the meat of the sound, but RFC adds in stringed instruments in irregular places. Most songs have a fairly substantial transition in the middle of the track, leading to spectacular unpredictability. [...]
Main Attrakionz if you go through the internet: has a catalogue filled with music. Chandelier was actually talked about when me and Julian Wass (1/2 production of this project) had a chance to... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

The Empty Bottle 's yearly collaboration with The Wire magazine dubbed "Adventures in Modern Music: A Five Day Celebration of Outsider Sounds" will return next week, the venue announced via its Tumblr . The series kicks off at the Empty Bottle on Wednesday, Sept. 28, featuring Synthpop composer and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti keyboard player John Maus , Brooklyn black metal outfit Liturgy , retro-poppers Dirty Beaches , and Chicago's own experimental electronic outfit Chandeliers. The event will [...]

Chicago's best kept secret in electronic music is Chandeliers . The five-piece live group has been going at it for years, always seeming to remain just under the radar of local popularity. While most of Chicago's synth-heavy acts lean towards a pop, party sound, Chandeliers favor shadowy instrumental sweeps, percussion clatter and krautrock influence. Their highly underrated Roulé EP (released last December) complements the music of Blondes nicely, swirling mild, entrancing dancefloor rhythms. You can find more from Chandeliers on [...]

And now three reasons to man up and mosey on over to Subterranean this pleasant summer, Monday evening... 1. Magical Beautiful 's spacey, shape-shifting electro-pop takes some time to be digested. It's difficult to narrow down a combination of influences for the Chicago outfit, but they seem to be picking up on the more psychedelic moments from Devo and expanding them into prog-rock dramatics. Once your mind is able to wrap around the eerie synths and crooked carnival sounds form their latest, 20112s Come The Wild Waves , there's [...]
If there ever was an anti-festival, it's Chicago's Bitchpork . Launched as a staunchly underground alternative to the buzziness of Pitchfork's Pitchfork Music Festival, Bitchpork is now in its third year and looks to bigger than ever. In the past, Bitchpork has hosted some of Chicago's top rock, experimental and prog acts including White Mystery, CAVE, Ga'an in addition to quite a few touring bands This year is no different as the three-day fest once again coincides with the start of Pitchfork Music Festival and kicks off this Friday. The lineup [...]

I am not sure how I missed it, but late last year the local label HBSP-2X released a split ep from two of the best dance rock band's in the city, Mahjongg and Chandeliers . Both groups also released funky videos to go with the ep. Below is Mahjongg's "Running On Air" and here is the link to Chandeliers' " Sugarscoop ".

As promised , February was an especially terrific month for local music with an array of solid releases from a diverse range of bands. The were some disappointing developments (where's the full HAWKS record dammit!), but there were also some unexpected and welcome surprises. In addition to the records highlighted in last month's post, we also got a double whammy from the Back Pockets in the form of, first, their three-song Bulla EP followed by the release of their sophomore full-length, Hello Dandelion . Indie rockers New Terminus got in [...]

Summer Fiction are one of our favorite surprises of 2010. On the heels of their feature a few weeks back, we had the chance to catch up with frontman, and singer/songwriter, Bill Ricchini to ask him a few questions about music and life. b3sci: Where can fans expect to see Summer Fiction perform in 2011? Bill: We mostly play on the east coast, in NY and Philly, but yes, we're coming to a town near you, hopefully. We're planning some touring and speaking to some possible [...]

Gatekeeper day 4 marks a return to the bloodbath most grizzly. This one is most definitely not suitable for work, small children, vampophobes or hemophiliacs. If you are from New Line Cinema and you are watching this, rest assured that the original footage was taken from a movie called 'Sword' starring Wallsey Snips as a teenage slayer ridding his high school of a Vampire conspiracy, led by Christopher Lee as the Demon Headmaster. Enjoy! Whilst on the subject of untimely demise, we would like to pay our respects today to the brothers [...]

Summer Fiction is both everything and nothing you've heard before. We wish more music fell into our inboxes like this. It's Baroque Pop, it's torch songs, it's freewheelin' Folk, it's reminiscent of the golden days... but most of all it's the roots and sound that's Rock and Roll. It's why Rock and Roll will never die. Every now and then we are graced with a songwriter that can make even the simplest sounds heard before, still well worth hearing. With all of today's media bombardment, I hear these songs and I listen. All I want to do [...]
Chandeliers is a kind band, who are, summat like drinking good wine - you know it's good wine, you appreciate the ampleness, it's fruity and full bodied, your tongue tingles at the crisp, rich aftertaste. That's my first impression of the band based on one song, Mango Tree . You just know these guys know their shit. It's all the goodness of everything awesome arranged perfectly into songs: hints of exotica and lounge, some definite krautrock focus going on there as well and in songs like Pharoah's Fury a very brazen new wave progression [...]
