Here we are, probably my favorite livery from the heyday of Formula 1: John Player Special. As Lotus's title sponsor for much of the 702s and 802s, these beautiful black and gold machines spent alot of time in the winners circle. Emerson Fittipaldi, Jochen Rindt, Mario Andretti, and Ayrton Senna, to name a few, all drove JPS sponsored Lotus machines. JPS was also active in touring cars and motorcycle racing, the black & gold scheme so iconic that many manufacturer's road-going variants usually had a complimentary paint option - albiet without the lucrative cigarette advertisements. So my schedule has been all over the place lately, including a trip up to New England where I stayed with some family friends who had no wireless and used dial-up (see: computer equivalent of the stone age). Glad I had a seasoned folk-fester take me by the hand for the duration, or I would have been ill-prepared for the bring-your-own-seating, dance barefoot in the grass celebration that the weekend is. The festival didn't officially get underway until Thursday (august 6th), but there was a kick-off show on Wednesday with the cool premise of creating an endowment fund with the ticket sales from the extra evening. That way, next time Edmonton hits a cycle of economic crap, there would always [...]

Finally, a video. Still, the album has only a few good tracks.

I totally did not see this one coming. The Cox decided to sneak up on me without me knowing that she was readying up an album for release this week. My inner Sappho was so hyped up about Tracy Chapman that I totally forgot about it. I am not getting The Promise , though. I am just excited for all the remixes that will be forever played in circuit rounds.
Yup, it's bluegrass again. I'm hooked, can't help liking the sound. The Chapmans are family brothers John, Jeremy, and Jason and their banjoist father Bill. This is from Simple Man, their 2005 album. MP3 File
