Filed under: News , Video , Exclusive , New Music Courtesy of Chappo Brooklynite band Chappo 's self-proclaimed goal is to lead their listeners on a "journey of phantasmagorical transcendence." As weird as that sounds, these guys actually hit pretty close to the mark. Their latest effort, 'Bodies Coasting,' is a tale of underwater romance and offers a window to the world illustrated in their second of two EPs released to date, [...]

CHAPPO is coming off a busy summer/fall, playing an array of sweaty, confetti covered clubs, releasing their inner moon shamans on the regular, recording and self-releasing their second concept EP as well tracking their debut full length album, which is due out in the spring 2012. Their first EP Plastique Universe was touted for it's "excellently overstuffed garage psyche sound" by Pitchfork and the lead off track " Come Home " was featured on an Ipod touch commercial last fall. CHAPPO has also received much praise for their lives shows - they played for The Deli at CMJ 2010. [...]

Autumn nears and so do my qualms about winter. Needless to say, it always seems like the best music and film arrives during the last one-third of the year. Award considerations aside, one gets the hunch artists want to end the year on a positive note rather than one of nothingness. A looming uncertainty can [...]
Here's a sweet, funky, bass-driven rocker. CHAPPO have been away, but now they are back with a new EP, the second release in their Plastique Universe saga, entitled Pisces Princess. From their Bandcamp: "...Pisces Princess is the sotry of a caped shape-shifter, an underwater siren, and their far away island love affair." That sounds pretty fantastic to me, talk about a band with a vision... Hit
The NYC duo Chappo received some recognition last year with "Come Home", a summertime psych-rock jam with a shimmering quality reminiscent of alt-rock groups like Teenage Fanclub and The New Radicals. The track was an excellent expansion of several genres; jangly guitars provide the power-pop background, while hints of Neil Young-inspired southern-rock lead just prior [...]
![TOP 5 NYC SUMMER VENUES [LIST]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3537959_lg.jpg)
It's officially summer!!! That means it's time to start going to more concerts in the great outdoors. Sure, the heat of New York City in the summer is absolutely terrible. Don't let that stop you from letting go and grabbing some friends, a Nalgene of hard alcohol, and a blanket for some urban camping. There's lots of places to see music during the summer in NYC. The indoor venues keep going strong, but it's the makeshift summertime venues that make for the best time. The following are our 5 favorite summertime concert venues as well [...]

For the first time in forever my inbox is down to less than 100 unread messages. Getting it below 500 took the better part of three days. What’s crazy is not that there is so much crap out there - anybody who has spent more than ten minutes looking at the internet knows that the world is full of dumb shit - but rather that out of 500+ promo emails that I’ve gotten over the past few months, there were less than 20 post-worthy submissions. I know I have some pretty [...]
Tweet This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before [...]

CHAPPO is a four-piece coming together from across the country in music-rich cities including Baton Rouge, Austin, and Seattle and settling in Brooklyn, New York. Their sound is rich in the psychedelic garage feel, labeling themselves as indie space rock. Together Alex Chappo, Chris Olson, Zac Colwell, and Dave Feddock released the five track Plastique Universe EP in 2010. With a successful release of a video for the opening track "Come Home" they have recently shared the followup. "Space Shoes" is [...]

Yup, that's right. The picture makes no sense, but perhaps the video may explain some of that. Let's just guide you through this one. Something bad happens in the beginning and those two mystic warriors are not happy about it. They transport through time using a giant hourglass to save the day. As you know, we here at MUF love ridiculous videos, but it helps that Chappo 's latest song "Come Home" rocks me sideways too. Chappo consists of two Craigslist roomates who apparently hit it off so well they decided to start a [...]

This video had its hay day last week when it landed on Pitchfork and Spinner's video of the day and is what you hear in that ipod commercial, which is why you are probably thinking "hey this sounds familiar". The video is engaging and fun, filled with sparkles, confetti, and even a unicorn. It's more than enough to get you excited for the weekend.

Please enjoy the Future Sounds exclusive premier of the music video for " Come Home " directed by Naftali Beane Rutter (Waterbound Pictures) We've never tried to hide our love affair with the NY act, CHAPPO , and the romance grew from a Song Of The Day ( "Come Home" last June ), to a Rumble New York headlining spot, to drinks in Los Angeles. I remember falling out of my chair when I heard this song grace the iPhone commercials. Since then, [...]
