Stuck between band holidays and only weeks to go to the Summer holidays, there's a definite reduction in the amount of quality gigs to choose from this week. One of my favorite Dubstep producers, Paradigm is back from a production hiatus with some massive bangerz for your ears to enjoy. Two vicious original tunes in "That's The Hook" featuring a sexy J. Cole sample along with "Chapters" in addition to a bangin' remix for Arron & Blue - Don't Change Me, announces the North Carolina based producer/DJ is here to stay. Grab the FREE downloads below and show some love by voting for Paradigm's "Don't Change Me" remix for talenthouse.com and adidas eye-wear [here] and don't forget to follow him via the social networking [...]

Here's my weekly round-up of the best videos to check out from Irish artists. Hermitage Green: Song For Paul I'm really looking forward to seeing Hermitage Green tomorrow night in The Academy, Dublin. Support is from The Young Folk so get down early. Song for Paul is in memory of Paul Darbyshire. Buy their EP ' The Gathering' https://itunes.apple.com/gb/al bum/the ... For up to the date info on [...]

Standish/Carlyon are Conrad Standish (bass/vocals) and Tom Carlyon (guitar/electronics). Good band name. Easy to google. Take note kids. So I was down at the New Museum of contemporary art in the lower east side, NYC the other day. Yeah you read right - cool huh. And I was in both shock and awe at the number of sleazy moustaches on the faces of ridiculously good-looking people. If there was a soundtrack for what I witnessed it would have to be 'Nono/Yoyo'. So what I'm saying is this track is so forward thinking, it's both seedy and beautiful at the same [...]

Words by Robin Stewart I was in a record store one day when I chanced upon a compilation album presented by Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead fame. You may be familiar with his work; has the odd tinkle on the guitar, every now and again impresses with his prowess on this or that electronic box of tricks. Good bloke. Very thorough. What caught my eye though wasn't Radiohead's finest, but the red, gold and green on the cover. Greenwood's ingenuity has many influences I'm sure, but his [...]

Christmas is nothing without the cheese. As Christmas only officially begins when the Coke Cola adverts start airing and the mince pies are finally served, then the festivities at this end of the pond are more than active. Lets thank God there is always LIGHTS DC to do away with those hole-in-the-middle and smelly slices. Quintessential synths are enclosed from the delight that always makes his mother & father proud: Mr. LIGHTS DC . LIGHTS DC – Calypso DARK ROOM NOTES - Elm (LIGHTS Tech Noir Mix) [...]

Not only is it four years since I began writing this blog but I can be reasonably sure that I'm going to hit the 500,000 views milestone in the next few hours. I'm hugely proud of this milestone considering I limit my content to Irish artists and restrict the content further to the music which genuinely excites me. As with every project it can go stall when you fail to review so here I am going to review the music I wrote about in 2009. Part 2 - 2009 When I [...]
Last Friday, The Chapters performed their first headline Dublin gig in a long time with a really nice performance of new material in the Unitarian Church on St. Stephens Green, Dublin. The setting was perfect for a band looking to build a profile after a change of line-up and a new musical direction. The Unitarian Church provided a nice warm listening atmosphere for an audience hearing a full album of new songs for the first time. The new direction finds The Chapters slowing the tempo right down with a country folk feel and embedding varied [...]

In a new feature I'm going to review a month of happenings on the Irish music front from my humble perspective. It'll be the aim to help promote the music that's impressed me during the month. October was a month of missed gigs for me. I missed the SJ McArdle and Stewart Agnew tour which saw both artists sharing the stage performing a mixture of tracks from their perspective albums. Check out this video from last month's Brand New Opry night in Blackrock, Co. Louth. Stewart Agnew [...]

Fresh from nearly a fortnight in the UK the blog is back on track. Here's a few things that are exciting me these days; ..... And They're Back ..... take a bow The Blue Choir, The Chapters and Cocophone. It's been nice finding out about the return of some of this blogs favourite artists; The Blue Choir [...]

Those not-nearly-as-praised-as-they- ought-to-be Reading metallers, Sylosis , finished their final UK tour before releasing their as-yet-untitled third studio album. Okay, so Sylosis do get a lot of praise, but that's because they a) awesome, and b) they keep getting more awesome, which means c) that they deserve even more praise than they get already. Anyway, we made sure our Liverpool snapper, Matt Thomas , was in place to snap the whole shebang when it rolled into his hometown. -- [...]
The cream of the British metal crop on a Friday night in Islington. Yeah, of course we were there. And Sylosis and Malefice did alright as it goes...

It's been real nice hearing about the considerable progress made by members of The Chapters on album number 2. There's likely to be line-up changes for the second album but I'm delighted the band are keeping things going and have the majority of the songs ready for the second album. Here's a reminder of the sound from the band whose debut album I still adore. Moving [...]
