With the resurgence of rap battles going down (thank you, Loaded Lux ), we were reflecting on what happens when a rapper is spitting some lines that hit close to home and might drive someone to do more than think of a witty retort about their mom, child, and/or pet. There have been some infamous instances of battle rapping gone wrong—revisit some of these classic clips, showcasing the art of over-emotion on the battlefield. By Jon Tanners In 2008, Interscope launched The Hamiltonization Process , a flooding of the hip-hop blogosphere in support of newly signed would-be phenom, Charles Hamilton . A well-coordinated crush of mixtapes supported by a variety of e-taste makers — 2Dopeboyz, the Smoking Section, Nah Right, On Smash, and a fledgling blog called Pigeons and Planes — aimed to position Hamilton at the forefront of rap's consciousness, a fan favorite delivering content at light speed. Hamilton emerged rough hewn, a sharp talent without a [...]

Charles Hamilton caught a lot of people off guard when he came out of nowhere with a J. Cole diss song . Before you get all worked up, give him a chance to break it down. Don't worry, guys, CH has a perfectly rational explanation: it was supernatural, and it is all tied to Sonic being an alien giving birth, MTV being part of Egyptian encryptions, and other supernatural stuff like that. Oh, and 1981. One. One. One. Obviously. In case you didn't catch the logic of all that, check out a [...]

Charles Hamilton has been one of the most interesting and struggling artists for me to follow, as a fan of Hip Hop. With his Outside Looking mixtape with DJ Green Lantern and feature in XXL 's ever-so-controversial 2009 Freshmen class, it seemed like Charles had nowhere to go but up. But then Interscope Records dropped him, he was admitted to Community Assessment & Treatment Services Rehab, and that whole ex-girlfriend hook to the jaw was just too much for some people to continue supporting him. But you always have to look at the music. Hamilton [...]

Charles Hamilton. As one of Hip-Hop's more troubled and troubling personalities in recent memory, the 24-year-old emcee (isn't that shocking? doesn't it feel like he's been around forever ?) Hamilton has long represented a tremendous talent whose career, for reasons well-documented elsewhere, never quite achieved the creative and commercial aspirations so many held for it. At P&P, we root for Charles as much as we root for anyone who's flashed the potential to make good music. On "I Don't Care," the lead single from his upcoming project ILL DOESN'T MEEN CLASSIC (apparently dropping on 7/7), [...]

Happy New Year pigeons!! I still feel like shit from last night but I saw some new CH floating around and decided to get the hell out of bed and take a listen. I hope he'll get back to his Hamiltonization ways this year. Not exactly the amount of projects, but the quality of music that he was putting out. In the meantime, here's some new shit from The Faculty (Chuck & Sha-Leik) called "Happy New Year". Enjoy! Snagged from DWND . Charles Hamilton - "Happy New Year" (Prod Sha-Leik)
A couple of years ago, Charles Hamilton was on the cover of the Now issue, FADER’s annual, year-end look forward amidst many other publications’ navel-gazing looks back. Hamilton, who in 2009 had heavy buzz and ... read more

The mystery man himself Charles Hamilton is back with his new mixtape Happy 9th Birthday. This project is an ode to producer 9th Wonder. Charles Hamilton has always played by his own rules with his unique style. Typically cats either love him or hate him. This project is no different. He is definitely keeping it outside the box. Some might argue that he's an irrelevant artist as of now, but at one point in time he was my favorite rapper, and music can never truly die out. Here's just a short list of some tracks I could never get tired of listening to (even thought there still are a lot of tracks that I just probably forgot to add): Charles Hamilton - The Desired Answer Charles Hamilton - Do It [...]
Dope beats, dope rhymes, this hip-hop sh*t really ain't that hard. Enjoy this playlist of some of my favorite hip-hop tracks. Don't be quick to judge what isn't on the list, since putting literally every good hip-hop song is impossible. Enjoy! AZ - Gimme Yours Apathy - True Love (ft. Phonte) Jay Rock - Get On Your Shit [...]
Regardless of your backstory and no matter your name, there's a certain line you don't cross if you want to be taken seriously. Even though it seems Charles Hamilton's been [...]

I had to post this, for the mere fact that Charles Hamilton was suppose to be one of the biggest artists in hip hop a few years ago. The rapper was everywhere, being hailed as one to look out for. Yet, somewhere in between that, Hamilton went off the deep end and became a name that pretty much faded away. He became more known for his troubles than music. He had drug issues, lived in a mental institution, to having scuffles on Youtube (punched in the face), but was still around making some music. I heard [...]
