
I have a list of albums I meant to write up but never managed. These two are pretty close to the top of the list and both of them fit the introspective mood I have found myself in as of late. I have always loved bluegrass but have found very little of the modern stuff that really piques my interest so I haven't really covered the genre all that much around here but classics such as The Carter Family are a staple in my playlists at home. i recently wrote about the black twig pickers , and i just happened to come across this record in which they back up charlie parr on a record featuring ol' timey gospel songs. i have never heard of charlie parr, but i really dig that black twig pickers record, and i love old gospel songs, so it was pretty much a no lose situation. the record is entitled glory in the meeting house . it reminds me of a backwoods bluegrass pickin party that after a few beers/liquor folks got all religious and decided to do [...]
This album may have escaped the radar somewhat given that both Charlie and The black Twig Pickers had their own releases out just recently in support of their recent tours but they recorded this back in May and I only came across it because word got to me it was being sold when they toured the UK together for a few shows recently.
