Posted on Jul 21st 2011 5: 00PM by Tabassum Siddiqui Northern Exposure is Spinner's MP3 column highlighting the best in new Canadian music. This week we feature some of the notable acts at Guelph, Ontario's annual Hillside Festival (July 22-24). Though barely out of her teens, Montreal (by way of Toronto) singer-songwriter Charlotte Cornfield has already managed more artistic output than many musicians double her age - not only is she garnering buzz for her pop-meets-folk solo work, but she's also hit the road as the drummer for Montreal indie-acoustic band Bent by Elephants, jazz [...]
Among my greatest regrets in life has always been my amazing ability to procrastinate on everything — including, sadly, writing and playing music. Which is why it's a fairly swift kick in the pants to interview someone roughly 10 years my junior who's already accomplished more musically than I may well ever. Still, it's tough to get a good hate-on for 22-year-old Montréal folkie Charlotte Cornfield — she's just too talented and too unfailingly humble about her already-impressive career. In addition to already getting her degree in jazz drumming (and touring as the backbeat [...]
Chris Morin Published Thursday July 28, 11:41 am Charlotte Cornfield 's life has become one of near-perpetual motion. Since leaving her home in Toronto to attend Concordia University in Montréal, the jazz-drummer-turned-folk singer hasn't stopped going. Playing in a variety of ensembles on a variety of instruments—Cornfield drums for a variety of singer-songwriters as well as in an all-female jazz group, in addition to solo and full band iterations of her own material—the 23-year-old musician isn't picky about the way delivers her music, whether she's choosing a genre or a vehicle. Montreal singer/songwriter Charlotte Cornfield has added to the deluge of new videos we've seen in the last couple of days. This one is for the track "All of the Pretty Mistakes" from her solid 2011 album Two Horses . Check out the video here: Probably more interesting is that Cornfield has announced a songwriting challenge for her fans. Submit an idea for a song (or song fragment, theme, anything really) and she will pen the tune. [...]
So we're a couple days into HPX 2011 , and because we haven't been out yet, we'll quote our favorite uber-drunk Gus' patron "What's up with the music guys, IS IT AWESOME?" That's more of a rhetorical question really, we know most of the shows have probably been awesome. Not awesome: the rain. As per usual, the Ack and I are contemplating hitting a show or two tonight, and boom, we have a monsoon season in Halifax now. Sorry everyone. Let us make it up to you with a bunch of songs from some of the folks [...]

Montreal-based singer/songwriter Charlotte Cornfield has made quite a stir over the last year or so with her folk rock ways. On October 25th we see how it holds up as she releases her debut full length album Two Horses. Cornfield is at her best when she adds rock to her folk foundation. That turns the opening number "Construction On the Street" into an engaging listen. Lyrics that reference '

Following her two EPs, It's Like That Here and Collage Light , Charlotte Cornfield will release her debut LP Two Horses on October 25th. With a stroke of light, earth, and perhaps a bit of the highway Two Horses is sure to fill some voids. These are songs for travelers both on the move and still sitting still. "Arc Blues" Also take in a performance of "All The Pretty Mistakes" facebook [...]

![Charlotte Cornfield @ Raw Sugar Cafe – April 8, 2011 [Photos + Interview]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3351417_lg.jpg)
Charlotte Cornfield played a wonderful acoustic set at Raw Sugar Cafe . I finally got a chance to see her live! She was truly amazing and talented. Loved hearing Construction On The Street live. She played a mixed of new songs from her upcoming album Two Horses and some songs from her EPs. Listen to the interview I did with Charlotte before her set. Can't wait [...]

I seem to have a bad luck on trying to see Charlotte Cornfield play live in Ottawa. She is a lovely and talented singer/songwriter from Montreal. Seems when she is in Ottawa, there is a conflict with another show or plays all the way at the Black Sheep Inn. I probably have a better chance in Montreal or Toronto on seeing her live. Anyways Charlotte released a two single teaser from her upcoming album " Two Horses ". The closest I've seen her live was when she played in the band " Bent [...]
