My favorite day of the week is Friday, hands down. I say this not only because the week is over, but because Upside gets to share the hottest nu-disco tracks out there. Our lead off song by U-Tern is straight fire and Perseus dishes out the most evocative emotional song I've heard in a while. This week also features beautiful Charlotte Gainsbourg's voice and zazzy bass lines from Jay Lamar and Jesse Oliver. You are going to really enjoy this one. U-Tern - You Don't Know Me Romanthony - Hold on [...]

The Oscars are this Sunday, and 2011 was a forgettable year in cinema. I can't honestly say that I've seen a great movie in a long time, though, I've only seen four out of the nine movies up for "Best Picture." The stage appears to be set for "the Artist" to win big in which makes Harvey Weinstein look like a genius. The one movie I regret not catching while in theatres in 3D is the Martin Scorsese film not starring Joe Pesci, "Hugo," based on the children's book. "The Help's" supporting cast should win "Best Supporting [...]

Charlotte Gainsbourg in the remix; it usually leads to something good. Take Superpitcher's remix of The Operation, or Diskjokke's version of IRM . Recent case in point: Joakim's rework of Paradisco. A tribute to the long hypnotic disco-re-rubs of dj-legend Larry Levan. The dub-version, with more volatile vocals, is downright brilliant. Watch out for those lasergun salvo's! Find more reworks of Paradisco via HypeMachine . I like Tempogeist's discofied version a lot, too. Charlotte Gainsbourg - Paradisco (Joakim's "Paradisco Garage" dub)

Joakim released a tropical disco remix of the lovely Charlotte Gainsbourg's single 'Paradisco'.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Paradisco By Stef Siepel The Weekly Froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer's fancy. Track of the week: 'Paradisco' by Charlotte Gainsbourg (Joakim remix) I loved (LOVED) that Joakim album last year - a proud addition to my vinyl collection, really [...]
Wow, so many people sending me tracks, I can barely keep up. Made another selection from the last weeks. It goes from relaxy, loungy tunes to some of the stronger electro tunes. Wish I had more time to give you some more info about these tracks, but I would say: Have a listen to some of these more "unknown" producers and give them some love if you're diggin it! Sanders Bohlke - Search and Destroy (Remix) by Ruda Krishna [...]

Just a few months after the Terrible Angels EP , French/English songstress Charlotte Gainsbourg is already back with Stage Whisper , a double-LP of live and unreleased material released via Because Music / Elektra. You might have already heard the first single "White Telephone", well here comes another song from the collection, "Paradisco", written and produced by Beck. To celebrate this release, Beatport gave producers a chance to remix "Paradisco" and maybe get their remix released on Because Music—home to the likes of Metronomy and Uffie . [...]

Looks like the official remixes for Charlotte Gainsbourg's "Paradisco" have been closed with a bucket load of the un-official kinda slipping onto the internets. The one that really took our fancy and pricked ears was from a Chi-towner by the name of Rex The Triangle with his fun-loving glitch-pop. Try not to think of screeching this or that, just the bubble popping French Breakbot kind! "Paradisco" slips back and forth in an ultimately clever rousing of housey painos and a stampy addictive beat. Get a download while you [...]

Joakim delivers a great "garage" remix of Charlotte Gainsbourg's latest single "Paradisco" as "a tribute to Larry Levan". Another great ride all the way up to...paradisco. The remix is out now exclusively on Beatport. Buy here .

Joakim has remixed 'Paradiso' by Charlotte Gainsbourg in tribute to Larry Levan. Essentially Joakim has taken the harshness out of the original, smoothed it over and added at least 3 or 4 different layers of sensual twists and turns, which steadily evolve over the course of the track. The end also features a Star Wars style gun fight. Pretty hard not to love this, right?

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Stage Whisper By Solange Moffi Charlotte Gainsbourg , daughter of you know who (if a well-guided and true muso you are, that is), has proved an effortless coolness magnet with the likes Air, Jarvis Cocker, Neil Hannon, Tony Allen and Nigel Godrich all standing in line previously to put their stamp on the self-converted chanteuse's cap, on 5:55 back in 2006. Three year later, she even enrolled fiddler extraordinaire, Beck, to tailor-produce her next LP, IRM . The pair seems to have [...]
News reaches us that Charlotte Gainsbourg 's new album Stage Whisper as released in the US before Christmas. Hopefully it'll be out in the UK before too long (should have been out on Monday according to Amazon uk ). The good news is she's apparently been working with Beck again, and also Connor J. O'Brien from Villagers . The bad news is that she has also worked with privileged-folk muppets Noah & The Whale. Watch a video of Charlotte perfomring 'Out of Touch' with Connan Mockasin HERE .
Heaven can wait, and hell's too far to go. I've been on a bit of a Charlotte Gainsbourg kick ever since seeing Melancholia (which was by far and away the best movie of 2011; fuck the Academy). This has mostly applied to films, but her music hits a sweet spot too. She's the daughter of famed French chanteur Serge Gainsbourg, her music toes the line between French pop and indie rock, with a splash

Loose and languid lines of heads pounding and eyes burning perhaps aren't anticipated of Charlotte Gainsbourg , the elder stateswoman of Gallic sulk although with the world having witnessed her perform the crudest of gynaecological surgery in Lars von Trier's Antichrist, contemporarily, implausible is nothing. Now forty, the daughter of France's most celebrated ashtray-larynxed crooner resembles a figure as relevant as ever, Stage Whisperer opener Terrible Angels attesting to this with its glitched-up glam stomp and vapid, utterly disinterested vocal delivery. It's as exhilarating as anything to have been committed to black [...]
