I'm loving Chase & Status . Their album, More Than A Lot , was 2008's best drum 'n bass LP. The fantastic thing is that they're not afraid to reach outside of the 170 bpm range and work on some truly good hip-hop. "Against All Odds" has the feel of a good-old school hip-hop track, kinda reminds me of the beat to Nas' "Made you Look". The single is officially out on the 24th of this month, but you can pick it up on iTunes now .

One fine autumn saturday morning, i found myself watching Soccer AM as I usually do. Now Soccer AM has always been good for the music it uses for their various mini-feature thingies, especially on 'Showboat'. This specific day was no exception. Chase & Status " Hoodrat VIP ": I had only heard this in mixes from that era (circa 2005), and I imagine this version couldn't be released b/c of that GZA / Wu-Tang sample (although the Dub Mix is just as ill). I loved that harder, half-time vibe from C&S. One of the nicest DnB duos out there, and a pair of cats who are probably going to take the scene to the next level.
