Chatham County Line (Photo: Eric Wildes) Live Review: Chatham County Line, Blair Crimmons December 16, 2011, Variety Playhouse, Atlanta by Eric Wildes You've got to love the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. If there is music lover in the area who doesn't love that venue, then I can't say I'd have much in common with them. This time I went to see local favorites, Blair Crimmons and The Hookers, open for Chatham County Line. Blair Crimmons. Blair Crimmons is a masterful [...]

We keep our eyes peeled for new tour dates announcements each week and compile them on Tuesdays for this handy column… While still remaining active over the last few years, via festival appearances and curated multi-day runs, String Cheese Incident haven't done any sustained touring since announcing a break from the road in 2007. Well, that's all about to change, as the venerable jam act has announced their Roots Run Deep tour , a 10-date East coast run that will kick off on November 25 at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in [...]

So it's Boston Beer Week in which the breweries that are descending on our fine city for the ultimate beer event, the American Craft Beer Fest (ACBF), do many promotions, tap take overs, beer dinners, meet & greets with brewers all over the city. I am overwhelmingly excited and will talk about it to anyone and everyone. Luckily for you, there is always room for music when it comes to beer. Tonight I have mapped out some of the places I want to be and it requires some walks, bus, and subway rides to get to my destinations. Obviously these [...]
Our neighbors to the west at WUNC North Carolina Public Radio have announced the line up for their annual Back Porch Music on the Lawn concert series. Starting April 29, the station hosts 10 free Friday concerts running through September. The series mixes national acts like Robin & Linda Williams & Their Fine Group and Loudon Wainwright III with local talent including Chatham County Line and Holy Ghost Tent Revival , but all the performers have some kind of connection to the state. They aren't every Friday, [...]

By Jon Stone | @jwstone grass|roots ep. 7 The year is fading quickly. Soon you will be bombarded with lists a plenty, including several here, declaring the top ArcadeKanyeNationalSufjan records of the year. Before that, however, I wanted to throw down a final four records from 2010 that fit somewhere within the wide net I've been calling grass|roots. Each of these bands/artists put out great records this year that, I would guess, have been largely overlooked in mainstream circles. Ease into the first day back from turkey by getting acquainted [...]
Chatham County Line - an authentic acoustic bluegrass foursome from Raleigh - seems to be finally building some real momentum here in the U.S. upon their latest release, a timeless acoustic songbook called Wildwood . Interestingly, since forming in 1999 with their "bluegrass Ryan Adams" sound, CCL has developed a more devout following in the U.K., as evidenced by their forthcoming ten-show European tour. Seven of the gigs are scheduled across England and Ireland. Here's an in-studio take on Out of the Running...
Hi all, lots and lots has happened since I last wrote anything here, but nothing that you would want to know. So on with the music, just a few things I've been listening to for a while and would like to share. Heron's anthology has a quiet beauty of soft rock vibes in a CSNY go camping way, indeed the sleeve notes say it was all recorded outside in a field. Check it: Heron - Love 13 (lone) Buy It [...]

Raleigh, NC's Chatham County Line have just embarked on a massive mid-summer U.S. tour in support of their newly-released full length, Wildwood . The roots-infused quartet kicked things off in NYC last week, and were kind enough to stop by the LimeWire offices for a chat and a live acoustic session. Despite the heat, they remained cool and collected in their dapper suits, and charmed the crowd with two singles from the new album, "End of the Line" and, appropriately, "Alone in New York." Check out the tunes and the talk below!

This week's new releases kicks off with two major releases in the form of M.I.A.'s /\/\ /\ Y /\ (or M A Y A ? Whatever version you prefer.) and the collaborative album Dark Night of the Soul from Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse (the late Mark Linkous). I've yet to listen to the latter, even when it was infamously sold as a blank CD-R. As far as the former goes, I've always enjoyed M.I.A., but I just wasn't digging what I was hearing when I sat down to listen to the [...]
To celebrate today's crop of releases, here are new mp3s from Admiral Radley, Chatham County Line, Hey Champ, the Innocence Mission, the Love Language, Tony Lucca, Miss TK & The Revenge and School Of Seven Bell. Also, vote for your favorite of today's new releases.

Dave Wilson (guitar, lead vocals) Chandler Hold (banjo), John Teer (mandolin, fiddle) and Greg Readling (bass) have taken control of the production reins and self-produced this their fifth studio album, the single mic harmonising is still very much in favour and there's no sudden plug-in either - but with this release the band take a step further away from the traditional bluegrass mantra, in come the drums, a more Americana sound takes shape, not a revolution but an evolution that will doubtless gain this talented bunch some new fans. The opening and album title track Wildwood [...]

To be completely honest with you I've kinda given up on all the new/next wave bluegrass inspired bands except for Chatham County Line . I'm still open for some unknown up and comer to shock my system, but for now I'm bored with all the other contenders and hanger ons. Save for Chatham County Line. The new record is on Yeproc yet again and is titled Wildwood . Here's a song off it, as well as the Yeproc preorder page . Out [...]
Check out "Digging for Something," a limited-edition 7-inch from Superchunk to be released July 13. Artist and musician Harrison Haynes (Les Savy Fav, Hellbender) is doing the artwork. Apparently July 13 is THE day for new releases because Chatham County Line is also releasing "Wildwood" that day on Yep Roc. Check out "Crop Comes In" from the CD. You can also check out a video for the song here . "Crop Comes In" by Chatham County Line Asheville's Saint Solitude will be at Slim's next Wednesday [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours Chatham County Line are a North Carolina quartet formed in 1999. Named Best New Bluegrass Band at the 2004 RockyGrass Competition in Lyons, Colo., they received similar honors at the 2006 Indie Music Awards. On the heels of a European tour, they are stateside preparing for SXSW . Banjo player Chandler Holt took some time to speak with Spinner. How would you describe your sound? We would lean towards describing our sound [...]

Last night I finally saw two bands that I should have seen a long time ago. That's especially true in the case of Chatham County Line , who are now so big that it's difficult to hear their acoustic bluegrass music because their significant crowd drowns them out. Check out the video. You can mostly hear it, but you can also hear a lot of talking and singing by their fans. Chatham County Line from Mann's World on Vimeo . [...]

Chatham County Line are another great band that i totally neglected to mention last year. I listened to their record 'IV' a ton. I sort of had my own little bluegrass revival towards the end of 2008 with the new Avett Brother's EP, the latest Crooked Still album, and CCL. Here is a beuutiful song off of the album, maybe my favorite...enjoy. * Chatham County Line - 'Sweet Eviction' MP3
