Neues Von Chauchat Das Chauchat -Fieber reißt nicht ab, keine zwei Wochen nach der Erstinfektion ist nun das Album da (und wie lustig dass dort statt der üblichen Pressezitate nur die der Nutzer von RYM sind, genau dort hab ich die Band auch zufällig entdeckt). Und Upon Thousands klingt schon nach wenigem Hören verdammt gut, mindestens 5 echte "Wow"-Momente bisher. Dabei hab ich nach meinen bisherigen Erfahrungen mit Chauchat erst mal eher auf die klanglichen Details geachtet, was natürlich bei nem Stream in niedrigerer Bitrate kein sonderlich lohnenswertes Unterfangen ist. Chauchat Chauchat . Ich weiß nicht wann mich Musik das letzte Mal so erwischt hat. Sonntag saß ich von Mittag bis Nacht da und hörte alles was ich von Tyler Whitneys Musik finden konnte, und das war so einiges. Mit einer Stimme die wechselweise an Okkervil River, Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket und Neutral Milk Hotel zu erinnern schafft wäre er eigentlich wie gemacht für den nächsten US-Folksänger, aber in Chauchats abwechslungsreich arrangierte Musik halten auch schon mal schräge oder gar shoegazige E-Gitarren Einzug, im nächsten Song dann tauchen auf einmal klassische Instrumente oder antiquierte Synths auf. Chauchat (pronounced 'show-shah' according the Wikipedia article on German WWI machine guns) was brought to my attention by The Gunshy who is an ex-Lancaster, PA, guy which is where this band originates from. They sent me a copy of their new/upcoming self-titled release and it's incredible. They sort of remind me of Vetiver if they rocked out a little more with some occasional Shins-y harmonies and some Matthew-Ryan-circa-Mayday guitar squalls.
