Some old tunes, some new tunes, all good tunes, most Mondays… After a monthly mix loaded with electronic jams, this one’s a little more ‘indie-rock’ heavy, whatever that means to you. Here is the new remix from London based producer Big C, for Chew Lips' song "Hurricane". As in his previous remix for Alex Metric & Charli XCX, he's adding his touch of Italo dub to the sweet female vocals of ... Continue reading
Sound your air horns! It’s a premiere! On his continuing quest to infect all our brains with his infectious, chilled out, Italo/Dub mix London based producer Big C has taken Chew Lips ’ fantastic new single, Hurricane , and give it both a retro ElectroPop workout and an island swing. At the same time. It’s like a musical threeway! Hurricane is the biggest, Popiest track we’ve heard from the newest Chew Lips album so far, and a highlight of their new live set, but in Big C’s hands it becomes an atmospheric groover that [...]

Pandr Eyez is basically a lo-fi electronic version of Janelle Monae; the R&B vocal lead calls back the 802s, but there's less of an emphasis on traditional R&B style. Instead of tired rhodes riffs, they pull out 909 House beats and 902s club synth arpeggios to hold it down. Pandr Eyez' debut EP, Eyes on You, was lo-fi and experimental in the best possible way, the title track sounds like it could have been a Lil B beat. The new songs are definitely more slick, but they sound great with the polish and focus. They pulled the [...]
Remixed is a column that will highlight remixes we actually think are worthy of praise, be they old or new. Because most remixes are rubbish. // Words: Saam Das London electro duo Chew Lips released their new single 'Hurricane' this week, another track previewing their forthcoming second album. I'm not quite as enamoured with it as I have been with some of their excellent previous singles but I'm much more pleased with their recent remix of Passion Pit 's [...]

New Chew Lips single landed yesterday, 'Hurricane' pushes the former trio but now, duo's sound in a distinctly art pop direction. With an intro that's reminiscent of previous offerings such as 'Solo' with its edgy and grimy sound before breaking into a melody and lyrically driven track with heavy pop stylings. This is no bad thing, and sets the duo up for a new album which i'm sure should be with us in the next few months. 'Hurricane' is out now and is also backed up with some rather yummy remixes from the likes of XXXY and Pandr Eyes [...]

Passion Pit 's bright and bouncey first single, 'Take A Walk', gets an alt-electro work over from Kick Kick Snare Favorite Chew Lips . They tap into the poignant side of the lyrics behind 'Take a Walk', lifting away the light and airy original sonic vibe and replacing it with an overcast and stirring soundscape. Shifting the entire emotion of the track to a raw look back at life and it's choices. Like any story about life the bright spots don't completely fade. Select warm sounds from the original still break through the tempest of swirling sound, [...]

HUZZAH! The YouTube overloads finally allowed the US to see Chew Lips latest video for 'Hurricane'. That track, you might remember from our previous post, is tantalizing alt-pop perfection. Hard pounding bass lines, blazing hot vocals and sizzling synths will leave you powerless against it. The video is a beautifully shot mysterious adventure through derelict scenes and secret dark performances from Tigs and James. 'Hurricane' continues to be one of my top new tracks this summer. Very excited for what Chew Lips has planned for us this fall. [...]

Se tem uma coisa que os Chew Lips sabem fazer bem é conquistar os nossos corações a cada nova prévia do seu segundo (talvez temido) disco de inéditas. Para acompanhar a deliciosa " Do You Chew? " no lançamento do novo trabalho, o duo eletrônico britânico apresentou há alguns dias o primeiro single oficial de retorno, a ótima "Hurricane" . Se você, assim como nós, se apaixonou pelo disco de estréia Unicorn e está esperando a mesma dose, pode ir se preparando, o trabalho deve trazer uma vibe mais [...]
In the build up to the release of their awesome new single, Hurricane, Chew Lips (feels weird writing it like that ) have release yet another shiny reMix of the track. This time stepping up to the reMix plate id London House guru XXXY . Time to get bassy. XXXY’s reMix is totally Chicago House fun, and strikingly Chew Lips track, particularly Tigs’ vocals fit that perfectly. It’s all deep square wave basses, ‘90’s House piano, there might even be a little accordion in there, and while this hypnotic groove might seem [...]
Chew Lips just uploaded on their soundcloud this remix by XXXY for their single "Hurricane," from their 2nd album on 09.03. Really good news before weekend. This single is set to be released on September 3rd. Watch the official video for the original here. Enjoy...!

Chew Lips will release the 1st single “Hurricane” from their 2nd album on 09.03, released via the bands own label Family Records. “Hurricane” is a bold & sassy track + a surefire future pop hit. Opening with teasing electro beats it launches into a soaring chorus of dirty yet sweet addictive vocals that you can’t get out of your head, in a good way. The cream always rises to the top. In the 2008/2009 surge of ElectroPop acts surprisingly few actually ‘made it’, fewer still are still kicking around for the second album. From the moment we first heard London duo (then three peice) CHEW LiPS ’ début record, Salt Air, it was obvious they were going to be big, and they were going to be around for a while. Immediately snapped up by the hippest of hip label (at the time) Kitsuné Music for their first two singles set a precedent for mixing Indie sensibilities with grungy ElectroPop and infectious [...]
CHEW LiPS ’ new single, Hurricane , get’s the video treatment. The best of the new CHEW LiPS material so far deserved a clip. And it got one. That’s justice for you. Set against some nice urban decay, the video the band mucking about it a warehouse, showing off what they do best. Perform. Hurricane is released 3rd September Buy CHEW LiPS’ music from: [...]
Don't Stop! London's Chew Lips (aka Tigs and James Watkins) just released their latest affair Hurricane , the first proper single from their upcoming sophomore album. Listen to the Last Night In Paris remix below. Hurricane is officially out on September 3rd via the bands own label Family Records. Makes to grab a free download of previously released track Do You Chew? More To Enjoy [...]

On their breakthrough single, British duo Chew Lips asks "Do You Chew?" If the chewables are dance-pop flavored, then the answer is a resounding yes. Tigs and James Watkins have gotten kids hooked on their brand of dance music topped with sultry vocals and a live show carried by the vivacious front woman. Chew Lips initially came onto the scene in 2009 with the release of their singles "Solo" and Salt Air" on French label Kitsune and at that time you couldn't walk through a club/festival/mixtape without hearing either of tracks. I had the opportunity to catch up [...]

It would take brilliance on the level of Chew Lips to shatter through the writer's block that has left me feeling like Ralph Wiggums all day. 'Hurricane' is tantalizing alt-pop perfection. Like a hurricane Tigs is completely all consuming. Her blazing hot sultry vocals and the hard pounding bass line envelope you and before you know it you are in too deep to escape. The 1:18 mark, brings a break to pulsing baseline, but only to let Tigs use the quiet lull to enable her to plunge you completely under her sirens call. [...]
