Hawk Eyes Ideas Fierce Panda 26 March 2012 by David Keevill Re-christened from the ashes of Chickenhawk, Hawk Eyes ' full-length "debut", Ideas , sees the band recommence a vigorous assault on complacency in music by making one of the most dangerous and interesting rock records of recent years. Not content with just being part [...]
Hands up anyone out there who until now didn't know that Hawk Eyes is the name that Chickenhawk now operate under? Well, if you've got your hand up, you're a massive idiot - they changed their name back in March 2011, and you've had plenty of time to get used to it by now. Hawk Eyes bloody well haven't taken their foot off since then though, as since that aforementioned name-change, they've toured all over the bloody place, found time to record a new album (by the name of Ideas , with a [...]
The second ROCK The Embassy clubnight is hitting Mayfair on 02 March 2011 and will feature the mighty Malefice - who we saw in Camden a few weeks ago - as well as Icelandic stoner rockers, Cliff Clavin - who we saw in Reykjavik in 2009 and in 2010 - as well as the delectable [...]
I've been so caught up in the Unsigned and Unholy thing lately that I've left a few signed bands on the table that are well-deserving of the ears of MetalSucks readers. So, without further ado: Chickenhawk: I wasn't expecting much from a band named Chickenhawk, but these guys completely rip. They've got the post-hardcore-meets-metal vibe [...]

After a series of critically acclaimed releases Leeds based metallers Chickenhawk have clocked the mileometer on their flame-spurting monster-truck o' doom and consolidated the best of what has gone before into Modern Bodies . Existing fans of the band won't find any new material here, admittedly some of the tracks have new guitars/vocals and everything has been mixed by Kevin Vanbergen to ensure a more seamless package, but those expecting new material will have to wait until 2011. This eleven track aide-mémoire perfectly illustrates what an exciting prospect the band are. Juxtaposing micro-math-rock-twidding with bludgeoning [...]

We're still trying (and failing) to do justice to all the good stuff, the new stuff, the different stuff and the plain mad stuff that comes into our inbox or through the mail. So, with apologies to the bands involved, all of whom should really have had more than a couple of lines, here is another quick round-up for you covering everything from hardcore to psychedelia and from country rock to electronica and stopping off at pretty much every point in between. First up is Chickenhawk , who, by [...]

Chickenhawk scarred the cider drinkers in the Bowtime Bar for life. They're not used to mad fucked-up noise like this.

Chickenhawk seem to be a band that either people love or like. No one seems to outright hate them, judging by the press I read before this review. For myself, I'm in the like category with really, really like overtones and the occasional dip into the love pool. A. Or Not? is a three song EP that Brew Records kindly sent my way for preview. This band hails from Leeds, England and are often called experimental punk-metal. Their closest neighbour would be The Melvins or Dillinger Escape Plan and there are [...]
