Another unexpected collaboration for Community star Donald Glover going under the rap moniker Childish Gambino. "Unnecessary" is a much darker track featuring Schoolboy Q from South Central, Los Angeles' very own hip/hop group Black Hippy.

Back in January, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino posted a gif stating he was to release a new mixtape. That was 4 months ago and since then we've had just one track from said mixtape, " Eat Your Vegetables ". Today though that changes as IFWT have debuted another track from the tape which features ScHoolboy Q. It's titled "Unnecessary" and is enjoyable below.
Community star Donald Glover has been rapping as Childish Gambino for a while now, and many of us remain utterly unconvinced by his general rapping ability. In what would have been an extremely unorthodox collaboration not too long ago but now seems reasonable, Childish Gambino hooks up with ScHoolboy Q on this low-lying "Unnecessary". Premiered via flex , Gambino sounds like he's taking a cue from some of his more traditional peers out there today, Q included, and more notably the admittedly-admired Danny Brown. [via p&p]

Over a menacing beat, the rappers take turns calling out how ridiculous some artists get with their money. Skiing in Japan and molly on your rider, really upsets these two. We saw Childish Gambino link up with rap newcomers Kendrick Lamar and Danny Brown at Coachella , and here he is on a new cut with Schoolboy Q. I guess touring with/being around/coachella-ing with Danny Brown has an effect on a person. Childish Gambino seems to have developed a little man crush on hip-hop's newest crazy uncle.
