Tweet Today is the start of an amazing yearly event in Norway called Alternativ Julekalender (which means "Alternative advent calendar"). It's a project which collects new christmas songs from lots of Norwegian alternative bands, and gives away one song every day in December via their website , their facebookpage and their mailinglist. The songs are usually as amazing as the project is, and I have collected my favourites from the last two years of Alternativ Julekalender here. All these, and [...]

It's February and that means it's time for another by:Larm festival in cold but beautiful Oslo, Norway. Wait, you have never heard of the by:Larm fest? And yes, I said Norway, as in Scandinavia. Well, we here at the Future Of Rock N' Roll are always trying to bring you the best of whats next, and sometimes, we travel far and wide to bring it to you. That's why next week, Joe will be traveling all the way to Oslo, Norway, along with Larry from Future Sounds [...]

Eric Lebofsky - Untitled (2004) Children and Corpse Playing in the Streets - Fucked Up Beautiful (mp3) : On first listen, the unexpected laughter sweetens, (over) sweetens, (carmelizes on your molars) sweetens this track. But listen again. This time imagine that Marit and Inga-Lill have placed laughter in those exact places in the sheet music to create cuteness. Imagine them glancing up at each other, giggling on cue, and then returning to the lyrics. Fucked up beautiful isn't usually [...]

Once again, the people behind the Spoon Train Audio -label have made a compilation of independent pop from Oslo. The album is called "Oslo23 and features 16 songs from 16 bands, - most of them are bands we already know, but some are completely new to us. This is the follow up to last years "Oslo!" , and this time they have managed to refine the pop-focus they have on these compilations. Less fuzz, more melody. Before I start commenting on the music, I must give two thumbs up for [...]

It's not often that international music festivals knock on our door. Unless Dodge is holding out but we can settle that in the comments section. Or not. Anyway, when By:Larm Festival (pronounced "bee larm") invited MOKB to hang/check out Scandinavia's finest up-and-coming artists in Oslo, we felt it was a privilege and an honor. To give you a reference, think of a charming and modest SXSW with a chance of snow flurries and REALLY expensive beer. So without any more delays, here are some noteworthy artists in order of appearance. [...]

It's been a while since I did the Thursday Tunes-thing, and this was supposed to be a new Thursday Tunes-post, but I never managed to finish it until Thursday was gone. Time flies... That's why this is a Monday Music-post instead... Hope you will enjoy these songs! We start with some Norwegian songs. The first one is from a duo with the strange name Children and Corpse playing in the streets . The name is less macabre than it sounds. For those of you who know a bit norwegian, the story behind it was that the [...]
