My inbox tells me that Chiodos will be doing an in-store signing at the Hot Topic in Anchorage, AK on Sept 12. Which one of the two locations wasn't made clear, but Google Maps tells me they are only 15 minutes apart from each other. If you're nice to them, perhaps they will join you in drilling for oil, picking off stray caribou, or ogling the governor.
Ultimate-guitar is reporting that Craig Owens, the singer for Chiodos , has attempted suicide. The troubled frontman attempted a drugs overdose at his Michigan home on July 20 and has subsequently checked into an undisclosed mental health facility. Occasionally, a record comes along and grabs my "too many releases these days," "illegal downloading is cheapening music," "tired of wading through Blabbermouth's endless Aerosmith and KISS news, not to mention every single Megadeth micro-update," "will vomit upon hearing another deathcore album," "will vomit upon hearing another retro thrash album," "Metallica should pack it in" jaded metalhead ass so much that I can only sit back and go: "Damn, this is good." Ignitor's Road of Bones is that record. I've reviewed it here . Ignitor - March to the Guillotine [...]

CD reissues are a mixed bag. Sometimes you get true labors of love, with good remastered sound, expanded liner notes, and fancy packaging. Other times you get horribly brickwalled sound, worthless "extras" (screensavers, anyone?), or blatant cash-ins released a year after the original with maybe a bonus track tacked on. I'm not naming any names, but we all know who they are. Chiodos' All's Well That Ends Well (on Equal Vision ) came out last summer, so I was dismayed to see a reissue appear this October. However, the label's publicist [...]
Friday night I had a chance to review the Atreyu, ETID, and Chiodos show at Nokia Theatre. I was pretty excited about this show for a few reasons. Atreyu used to be a favorite of mine (I know that seems weird but they aren't really all that glam. They get lumped in with a bunch of shitty "metalcore/screamo" bands and I have always felt it was undeserved.)I've really been digging the Chiodos stuff
