Still spin that old Unicorns' record and remember the good times? Of course you do (if you don't why not?). Well we think we've just discovered a worthy successor - say hello to Chocolate Robots. These three pizza serving brothers are working some of the finest off-kilter pop we've heard in a long time. Having just released their sophomore album, PIZzaFAce , it seemed like a good time to catch up with one of the brothers and talk music, tanning salons and pepperoni. Chocolate Robots - Impossible Princess [...]

OK so Chocolate Robots is something that you might name a band in high school, and it's hard to get past the cliché there, but I urge you to try. This is weird Canada music, which is one of my new favorite genres. Why are they making such bizarre music in Canada? Is there moose in the water? Is it the universal healthcare? Is hockey finally going out of style and the pent-up aggression being pointed towards a drum set, a bass, a guitar, and a microphone? Who can say, but Chocolate Rob...
This is a fun song called "Young Luff" from indie pop band Chocolate Robots . Very little info is to be had on this band other than they just release a new album entitled PiZzAfAcE which can be purchased via Cheeky Monkey Records . The group also has some other songs streaming over on their bandcamp site if this one strikes your fancy. Download: Chocolate Robots - Young Luff [MP3]

Enjoy Kapowski and their weird futuristic (?) video and other videos by the Cheeks and their 602s inspired sounds, the British Correspondents, who feel like they're cheating just because their girlfriend changed her look, my beloved Tindersticks and their melancholic melodies and Gerard Love's of the Teenage Fanclub solo project Lightships. You can also download for free Troumaca's afro and [...]

Sticking with the new theme around here...this is a playlist with choice songs from a mixed cd I just put in my mom's PT Cruiser. It's pretty fast. 1. Yellow Ostrich - Marathon Runner 2. Plants & Animals - Lightshow 3. Brian TV - Something About Love 4. ALLAH-LAHS - Catamaran [...]

I have to go back to work this morning. I don't want to. I have to , but I don't want to. I want to sit at my front window (it's too cold out to park it on the porch) and play Chocolate Robots ' Pizza Face album on full blast and laugh at all the sucker kids heading back to school, and those people who extended their holidays an extra week. Just like I did last Monday morning. Okay, I didn't really do that last Monday morning (because I [...]
by teepoo I've grown quite fond of Chocolate Robots . Their tunes are simply catchy. I love their lo-fi upbeat happiness. There's something about them that makes me think of The Strokes except I don't tire as easy of their tunes. Check out Young Luff from their Bandcamp sampler . Also I quite enjoy their 8 bit Website . I hope one day they do make some chocolate robots you can buy so I can eat them ;). Chocolate Robots- [...]

Ian Foster For those who like : Al Tuck, Spirit Of The West Newfoundland singer/songwriter Ian Foster has an exceptional new album The Evening Light . This roots record is drenched in Canadiana. With fiddle and banjo popping up, you can almost taste the salty air on "Calendar". Foster's far from a one-trick pony though, as the bluesy turn on "The First Day" attests. Watch "Deep Dark Night" here: Chocolate [...]

So another year is rapidly coming to a close, and once again the Ack and I find ourselves asking the same old question: "why won't Justin Bieber ever reply to any of our many, many emails?". I'm kidding there of course, we don't like Justin Bieber (WE LOVE HIM). But really, the question we've faced, in regards to the hill, whilst pantslessly greeting each of the last few years, is simply "why are we still doing this shit?". We're roughly 77 years old in music blogger terms, and, speaking for myself at least, the ridiculousness of running a music blog [...]
Well here's a swell little band I knew nothing about. Isn't that usually the case though? I feel like there are a million darling bands out there that, when I hear 'em, I think to myself, "GOLLY GEE, WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD THESE GUYS BEFORE"? Ladies and Gents, I give you....The Chocolate Robots. What first [...]

If you caught a whiff of the Strokes with this and felt like it's an American version of the Libertines , then you're not alone. I kinda like the shambolicness of it all and the story about this band is actually more than meets the eye (and quite impressive.) Chocolate Robots is Mike, Marco and Mutt Guresi. Yeah, they're brothers and they work at their parents pizza place. For some reason, they've decided to call their band Chocolate Robots. They're also bowling friends with Fab Moretti, (yeah that guy from the Storkes) [...]
by teepoo Whoa, looks like my our latest contributor has been mad at work this past week! I hope you're enjoying his posts. Now here's a hilariously fun song by a band that sounds just as cute as this song title. Impossible Princess reminds me of the days playing Mario and swearing every time the princess was stupid enough to get captured again. With the 8bit sounds in the background, how can you not think of your favourite video games? Now excuse me while [...]

Chocolate Robots are a nice piece of work. Their emailed bio says they all work in their parents pizza shop. Not sure if that means they all have parents with pizza shops or if they are siblings with one set of parents with a pizza shop. They also called their album PIZZA FACE , I am sensing a theme here.

I've been on a roll lately with bands emailing their new tunes to me. A couple of days ago I got turned in the direction of Chocolate Robots . Their bio mentioned the band is made up of 3 brothers from Sarnia, Ontario who all work in their parents Pizza Shop. It took a couple days of listening to get into their sound but I'm glad I took the time. Here are 3 songs from Chocolate Robots off their new record PIZZA FACE ...if their music isn't your style then at least head over to the band's website [...]
