I could write many separate posts, focusing on each band at a time, spreading it all over the weekend and totally hogging the post sessions. Or I could just post it all in one big "here you go, enjoy." Since I have to de-wallpaper and paint my place this weekend, and I'm sure you just want the goods as soon as possible, lets go with the latter, shall we?Let Me Die In Southern California - The

Okay, okay, I know that I said the Daily Graboid would return to it's original weekly state, but I was out of town all of last week so I'm hoping you can cut me a little slack this one time. I've never been this busy in a very long time, as I'll be moving for the second time this month starting at the beginning of next week. If you're curious, I'm going to be moving from Alabama (where I've lived my entire life, sadly enough) to Salt Lake City. It's taken me a while to warm [...]

Danish collective Choir of Young Believers make a little bit of dreamy, orchestral pop that makes my ears swoon. Their sound borrows from The Beach Boys as much as it does UK band Delays. While "Action/Reaction" doesn't come off as choir song, it is a nice song to pop up on your iPod while on a drive. Relaxing, soothing... just good music, man. I first heard Choir of Young Believers several months ago but was never able (or didn't try hard enough) to find much information about the band. Fortunately, they again crossed my path recently with the press surrounding the release of their debut album, This Is For the White In Your Eyes . In actuality, though there are several people included in the production and performance of the music, Choir of Young Believers is the brainchild of one Jannis Joya Makrigiannis - a Danish songwriter and composer that excels at writing beautifully orchestrated indie pop tunes. Under his direction, the [...]

I was camping the past few days, ready to skip this week's post, but there's just too much here to ignore, even if too busy. I poached the latest from both Brendan Benson and The Cave Singers in previous posts, but that still leaves new ones from Jay Reatard and Pissed Jeans . Since time is limited, I'm doing some cut-n-paste w/ the Benson poach and I'll give a little love to one more. Playlist: New Releases 08.18.09 [...]

There's true faith behind tracks such as Charlatans UK/Beach Boys conglomeration "Action Reaction" and the bare, ruined orchestral pop of "Next Summer" (download or stream below), both selections from This Is For The White In Your Eyes, the stateside debut from Copenhagen's Choir Of Young Believers. Primary choir member Jannis Noya Makrigiannis made MAGNET a [...]

(pick up this disgustingly sexy, limited edition flyer by ISO50 ) Well, whoever wrote this email made my life a lot easier: As Ghostly International hits the 10-year mark, they're throwing a series of parties in select location across the globe. Having torn the roofs off Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Miami¹s Winter Music Conference, and Detroit's Movement festival, they now aim their music cannons at Chicago. The evening's bill includes music/design phenomenon Tycho, melodic electro legend Solvent, local industrial legends Kill Memory Crash, and Eliot Lipp's Dark Party. A DJ set from [...]

I can easily and confidently say that most music isn't nearly as beautiful or dramatic as that of Jannis Noya Makrigiannis' new project. Choir Of Young Believers make the orchestral pop music most bands can only dream up. This band reminds me a bit of Sigur Ros, but with more accessible songs; they should have an easy time making it big in the states. Granted, I am a sucker for choirs and epic choruses, but only when they're done right. Back in March I saw M83 play with the LA Philharmonic. This album is really similar to that experience, in [...]

Choir of Young Believers have finally hit the States this week, the band reminds me a lot of Band of Horses but Choir might have the upper hand on the singing end. I've seen Jannis sing maybe 3 times when they stayed with me this winter and each time it might of been the most impressive human talent i've witnessed even beating out any Nathan's hot dog eating contest. Jannis strips the songs down live to just him singing on guitar and his lady friend on cello and some pedals and they can literally do any of their songs [...]
Choir Of Young Believers This Is For The White In Your Eyes Out Tuesday, August 18 Bio: When listening to Denmark's Choir of Young Believers, it's hard not to imagine an army of white-clad singers with arms outstretched, their voices raised in holy polyphony—in fact, the Danish group is the brainchild of one 26-year-old Jannis Noya Makrigiannis. For years, Jannis moved in the underground circles of the Copenhagen indie scene. After the breakup of his old band in 2006, he moved to the Greek island of Samos and began developing his own solo material. Jannis returned to Copenhagen [...]
The Choir of Young Believers is, for all intents and purposes, 26-year-old Danish singer Jannis Noya Makrigiannis. This is only noteworthy because of what Makrigiannis has been able to accomplish with his debut album, This Is For The White In Your Eyes : an orchestral and ambient sound that borders on Coldplay density but with far more quality and depth to it. However, it's an effort still fraught with musical growing pains. It seems as if nowadays every band can pull a few sweeping strings in underneath a mellowed guitar sound and wow [...]
While This is for the White in Your Eyes , may have its weak points, it still deserves a high place amongst the growing canon of sincere Scandinavian pop.

Today's track is one from the Choir of Young Believers. Led by Jannis Makrigiannis, this Danish choir-pop group is emerging from the ashes of other relatively successful bands in the Copenhagen indie scene. Complete with plenty of dark, picturesque, reverb-laden tracks, the debut album This is for the Whites in Your Eyes , is remarkably enjoyable. Check out the lead single off of it! It is just the track no vide. But, it was to good to not post about today. Action/Reaction, the anthemic debut single from Choir of Young Believers' full-length This Is for the Whites in Your Eyes.
Big kudos to Ghostly, this how labels should introduce their new additions. Denmark's Choir of Young Believers, is the brainchild of one 26-year-old Jannis Noya Makrigiannis. For years, Jannis moved... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.
