For this week's edition (which comes just a few days after last week's thanks to my lack of remembering to post things, cuz I'm smart), I asked twitter to select a random word and our friend IndieBeanie was the first to reply with the suggestion of "Feather". I was at first a little unsure that there would even be too many search results with that word, but I gave it a go anyway, and luckily, as usual, it all worked out for the best. First up is a tune from Bristol band Chorchazade ,read [...]
The other day I began to describe the origins of the Sunday Mix Tape feature. Today, I'll describe the end of an era. The second fifty mix tapes, which commenced on January 28th, 2007, saw an increased amount of attention paid to marginalized artists. It was almost as if the first few dozen installments were my way of convincing people to come along for the ride, and the second fifty mix tapes were my way of introducing people to the really good shit. Three years ago, before the reissue and the recent Pitchfork review, you'd never see an [...]
It's Sunday again, and as per usual, nothing exciting is happening anywhere in the world. People sleep late and hope they can relax for a few hours before the new work week begins. Meanwhile, I've reached the exact middle of my own work week, so I'm way closer to my next weekend than you are! Ha! In trying to write an introductory paragraph, I asked Ilya what topic I should pontificiate on. He said "cupcakes," then giggled softly. "Cupcakes are really what's in right now," he said, and giggled some more. Yup, I know what Ilya did all [...]

A cult British pop group from Penzance, England. Operating from a base in St Pauls, Bristol. They performed sporadic concerts in Britain and Europe from 1977 to 1988, often supporting bands such as James, Marc Riley and the Creepers, A Certain Ratio, The Blue Aeroplanes and The Brilliant Corners. They eventually released one 12 inch single called 'aaah, you are as light as a feather' in 1985 and a vinyl album, 'made to be devoured' in 1986. John Peel played a track off the initial single but said that he 'wished the group had a simpler name, like the Moody [...]

Sit right back and you'll hear the tale of a British pop group called Chorchazade, an all-too unknown band from Bristol that remained active from 1977 until 1988. Keith Bailey drummed. Jack Hunt played guitar. Noel Lane played bass and sang. Chris Williams also played guitar. The quartet performed sporadically over the course of those eleven years, playing supporting gigs for groups like James, A Certain Ratio, and Marc Riley and the Creepers. There are two known Chorchazade releases, the twelve-inch single called Aaah, You Are As Light As A Feather , and a self-released full-length entitled Made [...]

Hello beautiful friends. I trust gravity is not keeping you down on this beautiful Sunday, is it? Unless of course, you're living in Vermont (as pictured above, six years ago), where temperatures are starting to drop already. After a miserable, rainy Friday night, the rest of the weekend has been beautiful. And how did I spend my time, you ask? Why, getting drunk on Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale and Port Brewing Wipe Out IPA of course! Today I joined a local bird-watching group for a picnic and some vino in the park. Then shared tasty [...]
