You really should get Cotton's new album. Unless you are a dork. But even if you are a dork you should get it anyway on account of it has healing powers that will wash away your dorkishness no matter how heavily slathered. It's one of my favouritest albums of the year and you can pay what you want OR you can spend a little dough on the gorgeous heavyweight creamy green vinyl version. Either way you'll be super happy you own it. Get it HERE .

Leslie: "Who is this again, Rick?" Me: "Cotton" Leslie: "His new stuff?" Rick: "yup" Leslie: "Fuck that Cotton! He's so good!" My wife sums up Cotton's new recording in six words far better than I will. However: Chris Cotton's fifth album New American Century Vol One [...]

@ MySpace // @ OnLiNE I posted a video of Cotton doing his new song The Loudest Sound a couple days ago, raving about it's gorgeosity. Chris was kind enough to share that song along with another new one, just as lovely titled Meandering Away . If you are familiar with Cotton's older work like I Watched The [...]
I just heard Cotton's new studio version of this song. It's simply gorgeous. This version doesn't really do it justice but will give you barely a hint as to what Cotton's up to these days. His next album is going to be the game changer for him.

Chris Cotton is working on a bunch of new stuff. He's sent me some demos over the last year and I think it's exciting stuff. Each of Cotton's albums have topped the previous and with each he has tweaked and transformed his style while remaining..well...Chris Cotton. Here's the first completed track. It's called Sun Girl . While we wait for Cotton's new album you can download his last two from Amazon:

After 4 years, 200+ bands, mounting debt and plenty of rain storms Chris Johnson announced yesterday that he would no longer be doing the Deep Blues Festival . I can't say I am really all that surprised, the festival was always an ambitious undertaking that at times seemed to feature more band members than actual paid attendees, I guess I just always held out hope that Chris and crew would figure out how to scrape together another year. The funny thing about The Deep Blues Festival was that it suffered no lack of support from the international [...]
O'Death is fucking awesome. This band from New York spins crazy and sinister tales while weaving elements of dirty indie rock, punkass bluegrass, and gypsy music into something that's uniquely O'Death. Their 2008 full-length Broken Hymns, Limbs And Skin is hard to describe but just imagine if the offspring of Issac Brock and Neil Young was from West Norton, Virginia and fronted the Zydepunks. MP3 | O'Death - A Light That Does Not Dim Broken Hymns, Limbs And Skin [...]
No amps or electricity, just a room full of sunday strollers in Mountain View.

It's a refreshing, simple record. And I highly recommend it. Going Home What Would You Do? Chris Cotton The Big Sea "Going Home" Chris Cotton - "Going Home" | download [See post to listen to audio] "Going Home" is shocking in its immediacy: a track from Chris Cotton's latest, due out September 2nd on Little Fish Large Pond Publishing. This vintage-style piece, recalling some of the earliest recorded American folk music, is a refreshing blast from distorted guitars and whining vocals. There's something strangely enthralling about anachronistic music, isn't there?

Call him Cotton, Slappy, Wingnut McSpazz-O-Tron, yr daddy, or Mr. Cotton, Sir. But don't call him a bluesman. And don't call his music blues, either. Gatemouth Brown suffered the same curse and carried a similar cross. What Mr. Brown played wasn't really blues either but to a lot of ears it might have sounded like it. I won't bother to go [...]

Festival ticket? CHECK! Hotel Reservations? CHECK! Plane ticket? CHECK! That's it. There is no doubt about it now. I am most definitely going to the Deep Blues Festival this year. I was a little worried once the house thing started happening and we started hemorrhaging cash, but it's all done now. To say I am excited is to certainly understate things. I am probably gonna heavily feature bands that are gonna be at the festival here on ninebullets over the coming month. Speaking of the [...]

Chris Cotton and the New Hokum 3's are a bad ass blues outfit outta California. They are trying to raise the funds to put out a new cd. Last week Chris sent out a myspace bulletin asking people to commit to buying a copy of the cd once it's out and got 110 commitments pretty quickly. He needs 140 more. I decided to post his bulletin here to raise a little awareness. I need 250 people to commit/and buy my new album in advance for me to be able to Mix, Master, And duplicate my [...]
