I am so incredibly happy to hear that Chris Garneau is working on a new album. Since his last release, El Radio, Chris has been filling his time mostly with touring, primarily in Europe and Asia, until this past June when given the opportunity to tour the U.S. supporting Keren Ann. Chris will soon be leaving Brooklyn for the mountains upstate to begin making his new record. He is currently free of contract and label obligations at the moment in my life, which he tells us, "is exciting but can be limiting as well." [...]

Sit down and tell me all about it. Or just lay your head on my lap and fall asleep. I'd like that. I got you. It's been a life-changing month hasn't it? It's cold, but we love how it feels alright. I'll sweat it all out, you sweat a lot too. We heart the same, the same black and blue. The perfect match, you and me. That magic is a part of life that we're finally living. So let's rid of all our stories and start new, thankful ones - cause I'm not [...]

I was always one looking for exit signs. But when you find someone to cry about it with there's no need to talk in boring rhymes. If you have some indication of how important music is to me and what it feels like inside when I hear music and see the perfect dance, then you know enough. Just always continue to learn the profondity of it, and let it register deeply, absolutely floor you. It's a mutual honor, privilege and nothing really to do with luck, though we are lucky. I am [...]

During her too-short visit to Los Angeles, globetrotting songstress Keren Ann played a guitar shop, a house party ... and the 1,200-capacity theater at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles. ||| Photos by Chris Molina After her set Saturday night, it's hard to imagine either of those cozy shows could possibly match the warmth and intimacy the 37-year-old singer/guitarist/composer brought to the Luckman. Performing largely acoustic at the front of a bare-bones three-piece, Keren Ann charmed [...]
Keren Ann and opener Chris Garneau put on a dreamily beautiful, strikingly intimate show at Yoshi's SF last night. Keren Ann is touring behind her latest album, 101, which finds the French chanteuse exploring electronic textures rather than the spare, heartrending acoustics with which she has become associated; the album, with its more aggressive tone [...]
HD Video by G. I fell in love with Chris Garneau when I saw him live recently. In between songs, he is very soft spoken and then his music is whimsical and his voice is powerful. This particular song you are about to watch is called "Love Zombies." It's about the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. I love hearing my first name in a song - especially sung by someone as great as Chris Garneau! Enjoy! [...]

Photos by G. Chris Garneau On June 8, 2011, Baroque Pop singer Chris Garneau opened for Keren Ann at New York's Bowery Ballroom. By the end of his 45 minute set, the singer/songwriter had turned everyone in the venue into fans. In between songs, Garneau was very soft spoken but his songs were very powerful. To me, his voice sounded like a cross between Ray LaMontagne and Jeff Buckley! Though it was 97 degrees in New York, Chris Garneau sang songs about winter [...]
Chris Garneau opens the previously discussed Keren Ann tour which starts at The Bell House in Brooklyn tonight (6/7) and also hits Bowery Ballroom tomorrow (6/8) . Advanced tickets for the Bowery show are still available. Bell House tickets can be purchased tonight at the door. Chris hasn't released anything since his 2009 album on Absolutely Kosher, but Keren is out supporting her new album "101" which is out now... "Last time around, [ Keren Ann ] risked fading into the [...]

Premiere: Thieves Like Us – “Your Love Runs Still” - The title track off the band’s new EP conjures up feelings of nostalgia with it’s cut-and-paste beat, paired up with grainy footage of extreme close-ups, and some very disturbed people. Music Videos: iLL-Literacy – “Gentleman’s Kool-Aid” - In this DIY video, iLL-Literacy and Karen Lum put together their own nightclub diorama, complete with loads of action figures. If only this were for school… Raekwon – “Butter Knives” - As Raekwon’s raps play, we [...]

We come to the last of The Wounded Jukebox's Best Songs of 2010 lists. I made an effort to avoid repeating artists on my list in order to include more of the songs that I loved this year. The resulting list is a pretty good representation of the tunes I discovered in 2010. I prefer [...]

New York-born Jenny O has been a familiar face on the L.A. scene for a while, having played aside enough local artists to fill a week's worth of bills in Silver Lake. Although there's an unreleased album she recorded last year, Jenny O is finally unveiling her first batch of solo material, the self-produced "Home" EP, out today digitally with a vinyl release forthcoming on Manimal . The first track, "Well, OK Honey," melds her dual sensibilities — jazz and Americana — irresistably, its doubled vocals offering twice her cherubic charm. Fans who have heard her with [...]
So So Glos "Fred Astaire" - The So So Glos from Matthew Greeley on Vimeo . I'm a sucker for a little old school dancing and the So So Glos give a taste of it with this video for "Fred Astaire." It's quick but still has enough to delight- I, for one, love the capture of the fella's ratty converse wearing feet tapping along- as the top hatted man twirls through the sidewalks of New York. It's a lice stylized contrast to the rushing [...]
Chris Garneau - “Dirty Night Clowns” (Official Video) Aptly arriving on Halloween, singer-songwriter Chris Garneau has unveiled this fabulous, slightly creepy video for El Radio single “Dirty Night Clowns,” which, as Dyson Sound reports , was produced and directed by Ryan Gibeau with the help of 30 others in a Brooklyn warehouse. (Based on its similarities to Josh Ritter’s recent marionette puppet-starring video for “The Curse” alone, I’d say a collaboration between the pair of BK residents is in order.) Enjoy the clip above and, if you like what [...]

I'll admit it. I'm a blogger who doesn't care that 213,000 people have already seen this music video. I just really love Chris Garneau as an artist and a person. So for the rest of you who haven't seen this beautifully done video, I want to share it with you. A crew of 30 gathered in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to an old, empty warehouse to create this magical marionette puppet filled music video. Chris has had some amazing videos in the past, and this one doesn't let you down. It's more or a short film than just [...]
