Sad news via Pitchfork , New Zealand lo-fi pioneer (inventor?) Chris Knox of the Tall Dwarfs is in the hospital with a stroke. Reportedly he may never walk again. This is really sad news for anybody but especially somebody of Chris's statue. I was fortunate enough to see the Tall Dwarfs play when they toured with the Olivia Tremor Control a few years back and they were really great live and came off as truly nice people. Say a prayer for him please. <strong >MP3 and videos after the jump... [...]

Fifty-seven-year-old Chris Knox is said to be unable to speak. While many New Zealand news outlets are reporting that he may be wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life, an Otago Daily Times article suggests that Knox is "showing good signs" and these pronouncements "were [...]

MP3: You Can't Believe What You're Doing (4.3 mb) I can't believe you did that! I like phrases like that because, depending upon the situation and tone of voice, it could be either a good thing or a bad thing. Even more intriguing is when it's both a good thing and a bad thing. I wonder how often that happens.... This song began as a sort of Chris Knox knock-off, but slowly morphed away from that, though I hope to have stolen a [...]

Remember when you wanted to add that classic indie song to your Myspace, but after a quick search discovered the artist was so old and unpopular with the kids those days that YOU had to create a fan page and then YOU had upload the songs your damn self just to link a single track back to your profile? New Zealand's the Clean totally needed one of those fan pages. Real bad. Clean guitarist David Kilgour seemed to agree, and eventually sent a request for ownership of the new fan "sight" (that's how David [...]
Time to 'fess up. I clearly have no qualms about laying it all out for ya so I'll start. I discovered The Sonics via the Nissan SUV (I think) commercial. I also discovered Chris Knox (Tall Dwarfs) via the Heineken commercial that uses It's Love . The Knox album on eMusic (Beat) has a definite Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy vibe. I Wanna Look Like Darcy Clay I confessed. I am at [...]
Err, so, been a while, yeah? Sort of like summer '06, except with different bands. So here's my lame attempt at an update until I get my ass back on track : Normally, I'm not a big TV person, but I've been watching quite a [...]
Chris Knox's song, "It's Love," is so obnoxiously catchy that it's perfect for Heineken, a beer that just won't go away no matter how much you want it to. I mean aren't green bottles supposed to skunk beer anyways? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =Sn-NtOXFE3Y MP3: Chris Knox - It's Love
