We previously featured Chris Price's quite lovely single, "Suicide", and now he's returned with a video for "That's Your Boyfriend", which is also iTune's "Single of the Week". Price is releasing a Deluxe version of his upcoming album, Homesick , that includes 12 corresponding videos, shot with an iPhone by his friend Kyle Safieh. That's where this new video came from. I suppose it's only fitting since Price recorded the entire album on an iPhone in one take. Homesick arrives June 26th via PTB Music. Watch the video for "That's Your Boyfriend" [...]

Three years ago, Chris Price fronted a major-label band that recorded an album costing who-knows-how-much with A-list producer Tony Berg. Next week, Price will be featured on iTunes for an album he recorded for $10. The Florida-bred singer-guitarist made all of his solo debut "Homesick" on his iPhone, using a ten-buck application called 4 Track. No other recording gear was involved, but some shenanigans were: The 27-year-old's "sessions" took him to far-flung locales, including the Nuart Theatre, a cabin in Pennsylvania, the Griffith Park Observatory and the Greek Theatre, where he sneaked in by [...]

If you ever needed a good reason to kill yourself...wait I just want to let that wash over you for a second; okay, and go. If you ever needed a good reason to kill yourself, Chris Price's new single "Suicide" sure makes the selfish act sound quite endearing. "Suicide" is the first single from Price's new album, Homesick , that's out May 22nd. The album was recorded entirely on the iPhone with each song done in one take. Watch the video for "Suicide" below. Read more »

So it's Thursday, which means it's time for five tracks and no commentary. All the artists chosen for today's post possess unique vocal ranges which produce a certain eclectic, left-of-center sound. I encourage you to listen to the tracks for each Weekly Everything post as a group in succession. They are designed to fit together as a mini playlist of sorts. Enjoy! So D.C. musician/DJ Chris Price used to make music for porn. Or as his biography says, "adult entertainment." Ok Chris, you can keep it classy, I'ma call it porn. From his bio: Recording under the pseudonym D'Crescendo, his original compositions quickly became a mainstay - oftentimes overshadowing even the actors and storylines of the films themselves. WOW. Apparently this was all before he was even old enough to buy porn. If that wasn't crazy enough, he then moved on to making background music for the Weather Channel! This alone makes Chris Price a [...]

Hey, great news. I've been asked to work on Justice's new album as Sound Director, I can't believe this is happening, I'll be working as a guy who sort of guides where the sound should be taken.. Like an assistant to the producer if you must. And this all means that I will be filthy rich and move to France for 4 months, I'll be earning about 500.000 euros on those 4 months. Guess I can get that Porsche 80's cabriolet I always dreamed of.. And this blog will be sold to the highest bidder as soon as [...]

Got some new music for you Comes from a guy named Chris Price and his new album Post Pop Parade is about to be dropped. Apparently this guys use to do music for porno's back in the day, but now has moved on to produce his own stuff, bringing with him the sounds from the 80's / 90's While i was listening to this music, i could help but to think that there was a New Order feel to it. Almost like if they released track today it would sound similar. His use of [...]
Okay, so maybe I didn't get to a new Wesley Strip every Saturday like I said I would, but I'm going to try valiantly to get him up weekly as I battle deadlines, a social life, and the multitudes of creative endeavors I carry on my back in the form of a 60 lb backpack. I'm sure you can relate, but that's no excuse! So, Here's a new Wesley Cartoon a smattering of the musical palette I've been painting my days with. Kind Regards, AZLTRON The Libertines [...]

Chris Price began in the music industry in a very different way to most artists. His first venture was making background music for porn (sorry, 'adult entertainment') under the name D'Crescendo. Awesome. Such a good porn name. Anyway, he has broken free of that scene and gone on to bust out a new full length album called 'Post Pop Parade'. Listening to the album, a few things become apparent. One: his influences can really be heard in a few of the tracks, very Depeche Mode , and two: he really needs to find his voice. Some artists (Bernard [...]

Chris Price is an electronic music artist whose compositions garnered attention from the early to mid 1980's in many adult films under the name D'Crescendo. At the time too young to view the movies that his music was in, he went largely unaware of the recognition that he was receiving from the films. It is said that people began going to the movies for the music alone. As Chris Price came of age, the adult entertainment industry began moving away from original music works and started copying the top 40 musical styles to engage a larger audience. It was at [...]

Usually (and this is true), if you happen to have ever made music for the porn industry, we here at the culture of me will not make nice with you. It's not that we hate on porn (believe me, we don't), it's just, the music is, well, terrible with a capital "t". Not to mention the fact that the proprietors of said sounds are not usually the best musicians or songwriters. It's more often than not the opposite. For Chris Price , a DJ and musician from Washington, D.C., this is merely a [...]

And now back to finding those hidden gems. One of the reasons I enjoy writing this blog so much is discovering new talent. Untapped creative juices just waiting to explode (or trickle) onto unsuspecting listeners. Chris Price sent us an email a few weeks ago, announcing his debut full length album Post Pop Parade . The album take cues from the 80's and 90's and twists them into relevant pop music. He is not afraid to use the four letter word "pop" when describing it (I know it's only 3 [...]

If you like your records to sound like the ones you remember from the eighties, this album is a sure bet ! Chris Price has made a poppy record, however without losing sight of today's music scene. Admittedly, the first associations when hearing the complete record, were Kraftwerk and Erasure , but listen to the raps in Heat Up and mistake it for Fat Lip in Chemical Brothers [...]
