By @ khal for DoAndroidsDance.com Interesting week for EDM. While I spent almost an hour debating the term "EDM" with a few Europeans, Insomniac announced that the Electric Daisy Carnival was going to London . Figure that one out. That's neither here nor there, though. Enjoy these tracks, mixes, and videos as much as DAD did this week. Coki's "Spring Break" Mix One of the best dubstep mixes of the year, so far. Coki did this for Skream & Benga 's BBC Radio 1 show, and it owns. [...]

Chrissy Murderbot 's passion for jungle and juke is well documented, so it's no surprise that he just had to have drum & bass legend put together an EP for his Loose Squares imprint. Joined by Austin Speed , Sinistarr and Pawn , Calculon nails the formula for mixing jungle and juke. While it might sound pretty obvious to blend two percussion-heavy styles like jungle and juke, it's harder than you'd expect. Jungle, being predominantly focused around fast and harsh snares, can sound jarring against [...]
If and when the world doesn't end, the most destructive part about this whole fiasco will turn out to be how tiring it has been to hear how the curtains were supposed to close on us today. Alas, if free music comes to appease us it's not so bad, right? Right. Especially when it's a free collection of jungle and footwork bangers like this. Pseudogeddon is a free 12-track offering compiled by London producer Om Unit to commemorate the supposed reckoning of right now. For the cost of an email this instrumental compilation featuring cuts from [...]

By Tzu-chi Yeh If the world is ending, may we all go out with some fancy footwork via tunes provided by Pseudogeddon . Head to their site and enter your email to download the free ten track compilation.

Former KOTJ podcast contributor and one of Civil Music 's latest signings, Pixelord recently released one of the finest remix packages to grace my laptop in a long time. With remixes from Chrissy Murderbot, XLII, Raja and of course XI, it is the latter's interpretation of 'Vibrate' that really stands out. Ascending metallic percussion and shuffling, claustrophobic funky drums collide and compete beneath a shimmering synth wash. While thoroughly danceable, the production remains modest and restrained before fading away into the ether. Oh yeah, and it's available for [...]

Chrissy Muderbot's label Loose Square will be releasing their first compilation on Oct. 29th. The young label has complied tracks from producers from around the world all focusing on the Chicago originated style of Footwork music.

Chrissy Murderbot , as his last album 'Women's Studies' demonstrated, has never been one for sticking to a particular style or sound. The album (and the subsequent 'I'm A Asshole' single) mixed together the weirdest, most upbeat sounds of juke, booty bass, uk funky, garage and even a bit of jungle - only to be followed by the relatively subdued 'Friendship' EP on Halo Cyan. As with the video for 'The Vibe Is So Right', Chrissy will be funding this promo using Kickstarter, a technique which has proved hugely successful in the past. Despite [...]
Chicago-based Chrissy Murderbot (née Chris Shively) has been touring the world with his footwork beats for a decade, but the producer wants nothing more than to be close friends with his fanbase. As his recent Boiler Room performance attests , these ground-level sets explore the most obscure of UK bass music, never relying on the mechanized bass wobble, electro-whips, or trap hi-hats that have saturated the US dance floor. While short, Murderbot's Friendship EP blends club music's danceability with the underground appeal of UK bass music to further separate his sound from that of his American colleagues. [...]

Not only does Chrissy Murderbot produce awesome music, like that found on his new Friendship EP, but he also excels at Words With Friends. I don't actually know why I keep playing him, because I usually lose. I mean, I win sometimes, but mostly not. Anyway, dive into my favs off of the aforementioned release below and check out an additional original and remix by Sumsun over on Halocyan Records' SoundCloud . Preview of a new EP out in a week or so's time from Chicago-based Chrissy Murderbot. Bassy sugar-rush music to listen. The EP has two track and two remixes. Opens with Bionic Penguins , which has a jittery digital R&B feel, accompanied by a huge bass throb, which then gets twisted into something more oddball ravey. It's no surprise to learn he's released on Planet Mu previously, although this is on LA-based Halocyan. Friendship also has that jittery high bpm approach. But in other senses it counts as a slowie, with it's more laid back [...]

As ever, Chicago's Chrissy Murderbot has been incredibly busy lately, even more than usual. First we got a brand new EP on Halocyan and now we're being treated to a new track on Rob Booth's impeccable Electronic Explorations compilation. The new track, 'Fuzzy', could only really be described as ambient-jungle-juke or something. Delightfully, drawing together the full spectrum of Murderbot's musical history, from harsh jungle snares and dancehall samples to jittery tom toms and deep house synth washes - it's all in there. At first listen you might thing that Chrissy Murderbot 's Friendship was a departure from his tongue-in-cheek take on juke and footwork, making our feet skit and our sides split. Taking cues from the worlds of downtempo house and minimal techno, you'd be forgiven for thinking Chrissy had gone all serious on us. That is, until you take a look at the tracklist. Though there are only two original tracks (backed up by two splendid remixes from KOTJ contributor Legowelt and SumSun), they both have the kind of titles that only Chrissy would [...]

Cleveland isn’t a city known for its prowess in the electronic music scene. Like any city we have our fair share of glowstick and MDMA fueled raves, but from time to time a real gem comes through. UK beatsmith Star Slinger headlining a show with support from The Hood Internet and Chrissy Murderbot is one of those select nights worth dropping everything and seeing, especially on a Friday night. I ended up getting to the cozy Grog Shop around 10:30, by which point Chrissy Murderbot was in the [...]

Welcome to Future Fresh, where the expiration date on these tunes never expire. This will be a tall glass of freshness into the futuristic sounds of Future Garage, UK Funky, Wonky, Garage, 2Step, experimental dubstep, bass music, and most recently Juke. Basically it's time to relax, hop in your DeLorean and take a roller coaster ride to the future. The names of the genres are not whats important, what is important is how these songs were put together. You will hear a range of bpm's, not everything is in 130-140 bpm range. Another thing you will notice is that the [...]

Returning to our humble corner of the interwebs, Chrissy Murderbot is back with a bass-fuelled jaunt through house and techno old and new. It's no secret that Murderbot is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to electronic music; his Year Of Mixtapes explored everything from deep house to dancehall to disco to jungle and everything in between, and this latest mix is no different as he bridges the gap between the new wave of deep house and the bass-fuelled house music of the early 902s. Featuring a mix of [...]
