The album released on Six Shooter Records is a collection of sweet folk tunes full of adorable little details. Dragonfly makes me want to be swimming in a pool in a nice hotel.. still stuck in school for another few weeks. This will be a short summer for me! Christine Fellows- Dragonfly WEBSITE

CBC Radio 3 Track of the Day. Lisa Christiansen: "Pop song structure with strings galore, and Christine's storytelling vocal style holding it all together."

(photo: Sheila Spence) I've been staring at my computer screen for almost 20 minutes, with an ever-increasing sense of inadequacy as I try to write a post about Christine Fellows and her new album, Les femmes de chez nous . First off, this is my introduction to Fellows, even though the record is her fifth as a solo artist, so I don't have a musical/historical context to place it in. I know it shouldn't matter very much (it wouldn't be the first time I wrote about an artists [...]
![[Listen/Download] Christine Fellows- A Day in the Road](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2951222_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Winnipeg's Christine Fellows writes music that is both tender and terrifying as she displays in her album The Last One Standing . Her music is often describe as Avantgarde folk. Her songs feature a changing instrumentation of cello, viola, piano, guitar and drums, but she is known to use anything she can get her hands on to make the perfect noise during shows. Sometimes the best sounds come from broken things – toys or banjos or cheap electronics – or [...]

Ah, it seems winter is finally about to settle in on Atlanta, I've got Friday afternoon off, and I'll be visiting The Pub tonight for some frosty livations, and again tomorrow morning for the big matches . Then, it's off to find a cheesy xmas sweater for a party Saturday night. So, instead of comments this week, post a pic of your favorite xmas jumper, yeah? Okay, I know nobody leaves comments here, but I thought it'd be funny. Anyhow, enjoy the music, your weekend, and the cold weather (*if you've missed it like I [...]

School consumed my life last week, so I was not able to get you your weekly release post. Fear not, because I have combined both weeks into one massive post. Week of 11/6: Last week was a week of EPs. It seems that a number of our favorite artists could not wait to give us some new music, so they put out EPs to hold us over while they finish their new albums. The first EP for the week is from one of my [...]

If you've heard of Canadian Christine Fellows it may have been when The Mountain Goats voice and brain, John Darnielle, included her in a mix of songs on his own blog, Last Plane To Jakarta, a year ago. Here's what JD said about her song "Vertabrae": This is the song of the year by a country mile, and also by a city mile, and by a nautical mile, too. Nobody else is writing at Christine's level. [...]

Debora Solomon - Olive oil, grass powder, ume boshi vinegar [2004] We've all experienced the culinary dilemma that ensues when a goose RSVPs to your dinner party: What to cook to satisfy everyone? Well, Debora Solomon postulates that a flexibility in the menu and the very way we look at "human" food can inspire more social contact between currently isolated species. The project works closely with Natalie [...]
Tonight I'm going to see a special screening of the Mist at Alamo Drafthouse's new downtown location, and Frank Darabont is going to be there. I'm guessing that the film is going to be pretty good, but I'm mostly going to see if he'll add content to my film section since I can't seem to get around to it. Think he'll go for it? At any rate, today I have Christine Fellows, who in just a short listen yesterday became one of my favorite singer/songwriters of 2007. Her brilliant new album, Nevertheless, came out this past [...]

Like every other blogger out there I get a lot of press releases and music coming through my inbox everyday. I try to listen to everything that comes through and most of it is relatively good. Some days, it just takes being quirky enough to rise above the din of sameness makes something stand out. Christine Fellows new album Nevertheless is that one today. With a sound that falls somewhere between the overly arty poeticism of Joanna Newsome and the sarcastic showtune swagger of Nellie McKay [...]
As many of you will know, CBC's amazing Radio 3 has been axed from the terrestrial airwaves. Sure, there still will be the podcast and, if you can afford satellite radio, it is on Sirius, but there will be a definite hole in my Saturday night. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in thinking that taking Radio 3 off the air is a mistake but the brass at the Ceeb think that it is wise to do away with a stellar show which features predominantly Canadian indie music at a time when indie rock, and Canadian indie rock [...]

Christine Fellows - Migrations I'm not going to claim Ms. Fellows as a brilliant, overlooked artist deserving all the praise the blogosphere can bestow upon the unsuspecting, but the track is enjoyable and a couple of the lines are nice. (I see no reason to struggle to connect with her full album when I still have to make nice with Ys .)
