Golden Scissors' favorites, Kraak & Smaak are back with a delightful remix of The Chromatics' highly acclaimed "Kill For Love." Seeing as we're big fans of both acts involved, it's impossible not to share this work with you. Their take on the original track couldn't be more exciting. Before you click play, you must know that the vocals are the main character of this piece, right up until the end, while the rest of the instrumental arrangement is left behind and will fill the track while you're already rapt by the sweet vocals of Ruth Radelet. Around 1:41, the bassline [...]

I feel that very time I mention Chromatics I get a 'oh yeah that band from the Drive soundtrack' type of response. Chromatics are so much more than that though. Having been making music for over a decade now confining them to simply a soundtrack would be plainly wrong, like saying that Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' [...] The post Cougar Microbes Top Albums of 2012: Chromatics - Kill For Love appeared first on Cougar Microbes .

Yes, it's 2013. Yes, we're behind schedule. But allow us to present the final part of our best of 2012 album rundown in all it's glory... 5. Bat For Lashes - The Haunted Man It’s pleasing to see an artist who grows steadily throughout their career – Bat For Lashes is a prime example, and we feel that on third album ‘The Haunted Man’ (ably assisted by respected producer Dan Carey ) Natasha Khan has finally reached her full potential. Having found previous [...]

G G done a boo-boo... After all the painstaking ordering and selecting and removing and replacing, it's typical that I would mess up at some point. Once whittled down to 50, the ranking process for the album of the year post buffoonishly began by first selecting the top ten and then going back and sorting numbers 50 through 11. Of course I couldn't completely commit to ten albums in the top 10 so left it at 11 and planned to amend this once I had progressed with 50-11. In [...]

I saw a lot of great shows in 2012, from all the great shows in NYC during CMJ, from my trip to Bonnaroo, and my duel visits to Chicago for Lollapalooza/Pitchfork. I saw many bands both big in small in a wide variety of venues, and made many good memories along the way. When it came down to it, these shows were my absolute favorite concert moments of the year: 1. Radiohead @ Bonnaroo (June 8, 2012) 2. My Morning Jacket @ The Capitol Theatre (December [...]

Concours : Because [...]

Artwork: Yannis Dragasakis Here we go. It may be the first days of the New Year, but we're still listening to our favorite albums, tracks, remixes and EPs of 2012. It was certainly an amazing year for us during which we started our radio show "OFF The Road", we shared with you some exclusive La.Ga.Sta. mixes by Duke Dumont, Beni, Pharao Black Magic, and we dropped our free 14-track "Late Summer Compilation 20123 with lots of fresh tunes, already downloaded by more than 20.000 vroomers! Many thanks for your support. Today, [...]
About 200 of you guys participated in our annual readers poll, and the results were tight. You had the chance to vote for 5 albums, and I gave each album a point value, decreasing with each vote. So first place got 5 points, second place got 4, etc... The race was very close between Frank Ocean & Tame Impala, but in the end, Frank Ocean took home the Orange gold. All in all, the taste of you faithful bunch alligns quite well with mine, minus Mumford & Sons. In total, 252!! albums were voted for, which is insane. [...]
