Due to the threat of a bad afternoon storm, the LC has decided to move tonight's previously scheduled outdoor LC Cinderella/Sebastian Bach show indoors. Sounds like a very good move. Cinderella rolled through town a few years ago, playing a free show at the LC after the band they were touring with ( The Scorpions ) canceled due to an illness. Last night it rained over an inch and lightning added to the drama. My fastest wiper cycle could barely keep up with the deluge. It was slow going for a while. The rain then tapered off a bit until I got in my front yard then the heavens opened again. I got soaked running to the front door. Today is warm and both cloudy and sunny. After those great New Pornographers photos in the last post, these are going to seem strictly amateur. The Scorpions canceled their Columbus show this past Wednesday due to an illness (and some speculation that this was the smallest venue on the tour and therefore not worthwhile for The Scorpions to play) but opening act Cinderella stuck around and went from opening act to headliner. Cinderella, Cinderella (Sunshine 197?) I know very little about this Filipino pop record that I found at a yard sale in Virginia Beach a few years ago (probably purchased overseas during someone's stint in the Navy, I'm guessing). A google search doesn't even reveal what year it came out, although there's a brief mention of the group in this bare-bones wiki on "The Manila Sound" ("Manila sound is styled as a light pop music in 'taglish' language characterized by 'juvenile lyrics' and, not infrequently, by 'swardspeak' (aka 'gayspeak,' i.e. homosexual slang) recast as novelty, [...]]]>
