I don't know about you, but I personally have never been too great at relationships. For whatever reason, things have just never worked out long term for me. Now don't get me wrong, I've had my fair share of "relationships" and/or "flings," if you will, but I always find myself bored sometime within the first couple of months. I'm really not too bothered by this fact; however, we all know that it's nice to have someone to keep us warm at night every now and then. When I get into one of those "I really need a man" [...]
Super groups are hit and miss. For every The Sound Of Animals Fighting , there are a hundred misstepps like the 80's Nuggent heavy juggernaut Damn Yankees. Isles and Glaciers , builds their sound around a three headed vocal attack headed up by ex- Chiodos and Cinematic Sunrise front man Craig Owens, ex- Dance Gavin Dance and current Emerosa singer Johnny Craig and Vic Fuentes from Pierce The Viel . The three singers voices, while swimming in a similar pool, all manage to standout and blend together at [...]
It's late December, there's a nip in the air, and everyone is panicking while trying to figure out what to do for New Years eve, and on top of all of that, we're all having year end, top ten lists shoved down our throats. The whole format sickens me. Say I was doing the list for the top ten post-hardcore albums of the year. Honestly, I can only come up with two or three. Does that mean that I should fill in an album that disappointed me like Senses Fail's Waiting Room, just so I can [...]
These are by no means all the best songs. The ones included on best albums are not listed. These songs, though, have been going through my head at one point or another throughout this whole year. Republic Tigers – Buildings and Mountains from Keep Color ( buy ) The Weepies – Antarctica from Hideaway ( buy ) Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire from Only By The Night ( buy ) Death Cab For Cutie – I Will Possess Your [...]

I f***ing hate this picture I was feeling a little bummed today on the state of affairs regarding certain friendships, so I decided to write a bit. However, it looks like Marcy from Lost in your Inbox beat me to it -- and summed it up much better than I could. Friendships are hard to hold on to. And losing friends sucks hardcore. And it's much harder making new friends as you get older. Take note of the people and places with whom you feel the best [...]
When you reach the apex of the blogosphere, record labels and PR firms from around the world want to be your friend. They'll send you countless albums in the hopes that you will write positive reviews and help launch careers. Or, at the very least, you'll be too embarrassed to have your name affiliated with a certain soul-crushingly pedestrian bands and you'll get $3 in store credit from your local second-hand record store when you sell the promo just to get it out of your study or home office or wherever it is you choose to blog. This [...]
So Record Store Day, while absolutely amazing, ended up being a little more low-key than I though it would be. I guess I was hoping for more of a big blow-out kind of thing. However, it was still lots of fun -- free giveaways, sales, awesome bands. What's not to love? I also managed not to spend a dime. 20% store wide sale and I actually kept myself in check. I did, however, end up raiding the free table and took everything I could get my greedy little fingers on. I came home with no less than 15 [...]
