Hell yeah, new Citizen Cope ! I'm a big fan, but I didn't even know his upcoming release The Rainwater LP , was so close. It's set to come out in February, and this is the first I've heard from it. If you don't already know Citizen Cope, you need to. It's sad that many people probably only know him from that "Son's Gonna Rise" song on the car commercial. (Still, a great song.) Citizen Cope combines elements of rock, hip-hop, folk, pop, reggae - shit, almost everything that doesn't involve raves and glowsticks or lassos [...]
Chalk it up to guilty pleasures as to why we love the gangsta white dude aesthetic of Citizen Cope . We had the chance to check out his "acoustic" set in October '08, which consisted of Cope with an acoustic guitar and a controlled drum machine, as to not stray too far from the backbeat of his usual groove. Surprisingly, it was really good . On top of that, Cope turned out to be a really nice guy as well as he tripped to the lobby of the Brown Theatre to sign autographs and take photos with fans. To [...]

This song was recently brought to my attention by my friend (Hello! Bettina Enriquez). Clarence Greenwood goes by the name Citizen Cope. He grew up in Washington D.C., but now resides among a cornucopia of musicians in Brooklyn, New York. He's got a pretty soulful voice. I'm pretty sure you've heard a song or two of his on the television. "Citizen Cope (a.k.a. Clarence Greenwood) came out of Washington D.C. with a new sound - a sound that possessed the beat and the grit of modern urban society." - Colin Ruel of The [...]

The aughts have been quite the decade for Eric Clapton fans, as Slowhand has been going through a career renaissance having reunited with both Cream and his former Blind Faith band mate Steve Winwood for separate tours. The guitarist has also dug deeper into his back catalog during his solo shows some of which featured Derek Trucks on guitar. EC shows no signs of slowing down as we head into the second decade of the 2000s. As we previously reported, the 64 year-old will team up [...]
MUSIC NEWS - JASON YATES is lending his keyboard skills to Citizen Cope for a two–month tour that starts in February, 2010, while he continues to promote his own self-titled solo disc. You remember Jason, he previously appeared on Citizen Cope’s 2004 The Clarence Greenwood Recordings . The tour starts up on February 2 at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC, and continues late into April (full itinerary below). Meanwhile, JASON [...]
I can’t seem to get all the way into Citizen Cope. It’s really nothing he’s done. I have 4 songs of his, 2 from his first album and two from The Clarence Greenwood Recordings, and I enjoy all four. But for some reason they’re not enough to give me the ...

The Austin City Limits Music Festival celebrated its eighth anniversary this year, and it's gone beyond being Texas' little festival that could. It's now its own destination. All tickets to the three-day festival sold out earlier than they ever had before, and the lineup was one of its most diverse in its brief history. Tucked away in expansive Zilker Park in Austin, ACL usually feels like a musical marathon. Unlike other festivals that take place on remote locations where you have to camp or in the middle of cities where you can walk a few feet from the [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Deer Tick don't want to get wet. "Where did you get that?" guitarist Andrew Grant Tobiassen asked, pointing at a rain poncho -- an Austin City Limits '09 necessity. The weather on Day Two was a complete 180 from the fest's sunny, 80-degree opening day with continuous rain plaguing the festival grounds and drenching people as they watched sets from Bon Iver , Grizzly Bear and Citizen Cope . "Maybe we can [...]

My next two shows are in the books... The Gaslight Anthem - September 15th - Martini Ranch, Scottsdale | I'm not crazy about the venue - right in the heart of Old Town Snottsdale - but for Brian Fallon and the boys of Gaslight Anthem, I will endure the surrounding douchery. They're fresh off a summer festival season highlighted by a couple of guest appearances by fellow Jersey boy Bruce Springsteen , and hallelujah, they're back in Arizona for their second appearance in 6 months. Bless you boys. [...]

A lot of (loud) internet voices have been putting out "best of the decade" lists. It's definitely fun to read, but my favorites change every week, and there's no way I can keep track of what year featured what albums. I could do research and put together a list (and I might, [at the end of the fucking year!]), but I might not. I don't know, I'm one of the less professional bloggers out there. I have random bursts of creative energy that I want to funnel into P&P, but I never spend weeks putting together some master, [...]
Technically, the archive hosts the biggest collection of covers, but they've got all those original tunes in there, too. I cut through the bullshit and give you the goods. One cover from several of my favorite bands with collections in the archive. Dig it. When the Levee Breaks (Led Zep)-John Popper (of Blues Traveller) Somewhere Over the Rainbow-Jefferson Starship Never Tear Us Apart (INXS)-John Mayer Gimme Some Lovin' (Spencer Davis Group)-G Love and Special Sauce [...]

This post is different from all the others because the song i'm posting today isn't electro or house/pop not even R&B. Yesterday was the first time i heard this song during the "So You Think Yoy Can Dance" show (and yes i'm a fan and not ashamed to admit it). I never heard of Citizen Cope before but 30 secondes were enough to grab my attention. Hope you guys will like too...Enjoy! Citizen Cope: Let The Drummer Kick -Zshare- Joignez DidiZeKid

Citizen Cope - "Let the Drummer Kick" Citizen Cope is the pseudonym of Clarence Greenwood. off his self-titled debut LP in 2002, "Let the Drummer Kick" is a good example of how solid music will remain relevant. synched on So You Think You Can Dance , an Acura commercial and many others 6+ years after it was released, Greenwood is clearly an early proponent of the licensing that so many today seek. is that a bad thing? as Iggy Pop puts it, "If people want to use my songs to sell sausages, that's [...]
The hip and happening place to be in The Hamptons this summer isn t a swank party on a huge green lawn or a hip hop bash at P. Diddy s. It s the Monday Night Drum Circle at Sagg Main Beach in Sagaponack. Started two summers ago by a group of local dru ...

I woke up with the sun on the final morning of Bonnaroo, ready to take in the final acts that the festival had to offer. Somehow, even amidst the hedonistic and psychedelic environs, I got off on the path of righteousness. Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue Mike Farris is not necessarily the most likely act one might stumble upon at Bonnaroo. His biography includes an addiction-riddled past, a near-fatal overdose, and the desire (not to mention pipes) to declare his faith in Jesus. I stopped [...]

After four long days, which featured torrential downpours, grueling heat, lots of mud, and over a hundred of music’s best acts, the 2009 edition of the Bonnaroo Music Festival is now and will forever will be a memory. Join us, while we remember and review the festival that was Bonnaroo ‘09… Ah, the final day. Bittersweet? Certainly. A welcome relief for those tired feet and pounding heads? Definitely. But before Bonnaroo '09 could become an eternal memory, and our bodies could recover, we had one more day of music to get through, and another [...]

James Morrison We went to see Girls Aloud last week - hooray! - and were struck by how great their cover of James Morrison 's 'Broken Strings' sounded. Duly-inspired, we sat down for a quick chat with Mr Morrison ahead of his latest US single release, ' Precious Love ', which has just gone to radio 'over the pond'. Morrison also recently completed a successful stateside tour with the lovely Adele , so with all these pop ladies knocking on his door you won't be surprised to hear [...]
Here are some songs that have been requested to be put up, and I dont mind at all. Both songs are Nation quality. Citizen Cope- Let The Drummer Kick Lupe Fiasco- Fighters(Feat. Mathew Santos) No tags for this post.
Bk Cyph spits over Citizen Cope's cult classic Penitentiary on Fire. It seems a lot of rappers have taken to spitting over some Cope tracks. Penitentiary on Fire Rmx

I can guarantee one thing: Sasquatch will not pull a Langerado . A handful of big names overlap with Bonnaroo, but that's not a bad thing considering how far apart they are from each other: Sasquatch is in Washington state and Bonnaroo ( lineup ) is in Tennessee. Both still have more artists to add, but already it seems like both are upgraded from last year. I don't think Bonnaroo can be called a jam band festival anymore, but it's a wee bit more chill than its intensely indie counterpart. West Coast, start rounding up [...]
