After spending much of 2011 in Berlin, City of Glass is back in Vancouver. Below, watch the incendiary video for the danceable post-punk number "Sticks and Stones" from last year's The Diving Bell EP . The band will celebrate its Canadian return with a show at the Anza Club on May 19. Look for a full-length album to come out sometime before long.

Here's an overdose of some tunes we've been listening to. Let me know what ya'll think in the comment section. DO IT. Our boys No Gold just released a new single... you could call it Junior Boys meets Justice on a downer. No Gold - Good & Bad Priory is a band we've been enjoying for a while now... weather or not they have two one hit wonders is still up for debate. Check out their self titled EP here . Priory - Lady [...]

In this edition: Discover Palomino and City of Hope; The Caretakers focus on children of war; an excellent Camper Van Beethoven show on LMA, and this week's VIDEOS! Discover: Palomino Out of Brooklyn, Palomino recalls the post-punk period of the late 70s and early 80s. An era where Elvis Costello and Billy Bragg rose to prominence, and when The Clash moved beyond watershed year of 1977 to become giants. Their upcoming, self-titled EP is marked by [...]

by teepoo City of Glass is comprised of Vancouver's Michael Champion and David Phu who together create a marriage of pop and electronic music with a hint of rock edge. In a weird way, they sort of remind me of Coldplay. Oh yes, and their EP The Diving Bell is name your price on Bandcamp . City of Glass- Tourist Check out the video for Tourist below!

Well, this will be my last Friday night in Jasper, AB. It is definitely a bitter-sweet day around here but I am looking forward to what lies ahead. Here are a few of the songs that I plan on riding out the next few days listening to. Free mp3: Leisure - Green Light Free mp3: Poolside - Harvest Moon (Neil Young cover) Free mp3: Azad Right [...]
The two gentlemen you see above are Michael Champion and David Phu, better known as the Vancouver-by-way-of-Berlin band City Of Glass . The band may have relocated to Germany to help nurture a European fanbase, but something tells me their brand of synth-drenched pop should go down just as easily at home. The band is busy putting together a full-length debut, but already have a couple of EPs in the can, Equations and The Diving Bell , for you to familiarize yourself with first. The band also took some time to put together a [...]

Vancouver's City of Glass (love the Douglas Coupland reference) may have decamped to Berlin to build their Eurpoean fanbase, but their slick snyth soundscapes go over just as well at home as they do abroad. The band are still putting the finishing touches on their full-length debut, but have a pair of pristine EPs under their belt already: Equations came out in 2009, and The Diving Bell just this past June. The duo (Michael Champion and David Phu) just released a video for "Tourist", one of the four [...]
It's normally unfortunate when a band really catches your ear on a new release, only for your attention to dwindle as the listening experience continues. Such is the fate of City of Glass on their second release, The Diving Bell . However, with the EP being publicly declared as a sort of 'album preview', from which only the first half of the four tracks will be preserved for the final cut, it is perhaps to the credit of the forthcoming full-length that these two stand out so far. Opener 'Sticks and Stones', with [...]

City is Glass is back with a new EP. It's called The Diving Bell and you can get it from Bandcamp as a pay-what-you-want download. Below, check out the sombre "Tourist," which takes the band's sound into a more expansive, electro-heavy direction than on past works . The enormous, cinematic synths steal the show here. I wrote about the EP for Exclaim! and interviewed singer Michael Champion about the band's temporary move to Berlin for the Georgia Straight .

Well god damn. After witnessing the crowd at the Old Man Luedecke CBC show happily join in banjo driven sing-alongs, clap along respectfully for the terrific musicianship (and the skill Steve Dawson displays each and every time he picks up a guitar), the sun has finally shown up here in Halifax and is shining as bright as the room full of smiles I sat in last night. So instead of more sad bastard music, I'm offering up something to get moving... and that's exactly what Vancouver's City of Glass forces you [...]

I've spent the past three days in Whistler at the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival , blogging like crazy for Chevrolet On Scene . I caught Vancouver's City of Glass this afternoon, and I'll be checking them out again tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to sit down with them for a quick chat as well. I'm here for another week, so I probably won't be updating this site until I'm back home. Head over to Facebook to see what I've been up to. In the meantime, here's [...]
