Rejoice! 2005's Best Band Ever have set a date (two actually) for their new record and dropped a couple tracks on the unsuspecting internets. Some Loud Thunder is available Jan 16 through some sort of Insound digital download program. It hits stores on Jan 30. "Underwater (You and Me)" seems to hint at a bit of Revolver worship on the band's part, and "Love Song no. 73 boasts some pretty unexpected tape manipulation toward the end. Both of these suggest a pretty large departure from their debut, which is probably for the best. Anyway, I'm here [...]

What a nice suprise. After two abolutely gueling commutes today, I come home to two new tracks by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah off of their new disc, Some Loud Thunder, that's due out on January 30th. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Underwater (You and Me).mp3 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Love Song Number 7.mp3 Now for the second surprise. There's a definite sixties pop sheen to both of these songs. "Underwater (You and Me)" evokes girl groups and (gasp) Phil Spector. You [...]

Whether he is alone and acoustic, playing with one of his talented side projects or fronting indie rock jaw droppers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Alec Ounsworth is one to watch! Tobie Kerridge, Nikki Stott, Ian Thompson - Biojewellery (ongoing) Do you ever wonder what could possibly surpass "human-animal hybrid" on the list of biotechnology threats for this year's State of the Union address? Well, a surgery to remove bone cells which will be proliferated on a scaffold to create a ring made out of bone is surely deserving of a ban. A piece of jewelery this creative could only be worn with something like Hussein Chalayan's self-transforming clothes. [...]

I am in the midst of one of the busiest periods of my year right now at work. Without going into major detail: I am having to file some reports entailing a great deal of data management while juggling my regular day-to-day responsibilites. I have been bringing work home and doing it at night. The worst thing is that somehow I managed to overwrite a file yesterday and lost hours of work. It has forced me to miss Frank Black (playing at the Avalon in Boston) tonight. I have been suffering through an on-again, off-again headache but I still got [...]

Blog favorites, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, are working on a brand new album. If you're a fan, get excited. If you're a hater, get excited. As previously reported, mighty Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Sleater-Kinney, Low) will produce CYHSY's sophomore full-length, which has no title yet, but is set to arrive January 30. The band wrapped up recording a short while ago, and received the master for LP2 just the other day. "There might be some revisions to it," said Sargent, "but we're done." Applaud and yell affirmatives, folks! ( Via P-Fork ) [...]

Check out the article here . (and yes, I stole my title from there). [MP3] Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Over and Over Again

On Thursday, September 28th I attended a concert in Central Park. The bands that played were (chronologically) Takka Takka, Architecture in Helsinki, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I attended the show with Caleb Oakes and Julie Jackson. We got there early enough to find a decent spot to sit/stand, and I went to the merch area near the beginning. There I found a Fall 2006 Tour EP with live songs by all three bands. Mp3s from the Fall 2006 Tour EP are at the boottom of this post. Takka Takka opened: [...]
