Clap Your Hands Say Yeah just might be the latest band to foil my predictions. It was little more than a week ago that I soothsayed their forthcoming album, Some Loud Thunder , as a sophomore slump. The full returns are far from in, but if "Goodbye to the Mother and the Cove" is any example, I'll be rueing the day I second guessed these guys. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - Goodbye to the Mother and the Cove [ Alternate Link ] The album has leaked in its entirety, but if you're [...]

Okay friends, I'm making a special exception pretty much this one time only. Here's the deal- I've been getting harassed by many readers of the site via email, who are pushing and begging me to give them SOMETHING from the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! album, "Some Loud Thunder." Despite the fact that the band already has been gracious enough to give us two tracks from the album for free, and then I took it one step further and gave you "Satan Said Dance" awhile back, I'm still getting pleads for more. In an effort to get people officially [...]

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah 's upcoming album, Some Loud Thunder , can now be heard in its entirety on the band's MySpace page . I haven't had time to fully digest the album but so far I like what I've heard. Incidentally, Alec Ounsworth has told The Independent that the album is really meant to be heard on vinyl. The first track, "Some Loud Thunder", is drowned in distortion, at least on the MySpace version and [...]

Internetters, there is good news: the hugely anticipated new album new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, Some Loud Thunder, is being made available as a download through their website some time TODAY! Yes, today, not the 30th Jan as officially announced, although you will have to wait until then for your physical copy if you purchase the download. I'm almost finished with the blog redesign, which means I'll soon have time to write more content. I still need to add tags to 150+ old posts, but I should finish by next weekend. I'm curious to know what you think of the new layout, so please leave feedback in the comments (or you can email us). I plan on posting occasional 'roundup' posts (like this one) to pass along stuff I find interesting, and we'll continue writing about the arts and technology as well. I'll also continue archiving my Charleston City Paper work, so [...]

The new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album is due to be released at the end of January, although it will be available for download purchase tomorrow (presumably on Itunes). A few tracks have been made available for free, although responses have been mixed. I tend to reserve judgement on this band as I found their last album took quite some time to grow on me. I must admit though if these four tracks are the best of the album I think everyone will be mighty disappointed. Thoughts? Listen: Clap Your Hands [...]

Well, it finally happened. I killed my computer. This past Monday my Dell Laptop ( Inspiron 8600) started making a clicking sound. I figured it was the fan because it's been acting up lately, until Tuesday morning when it refused to boot up anymore and only gave me an " unmountable boot volume" message accompanied by a terrible sound, like my laptop was going to take flight or something. After a few hours on the phone with a Dell technician, we figured out something must have happened with the cooling fan causing it to malfunction and [...]

2007 promise to be a year full of anticipated releases. This month, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will release on Jan 30 their second LP, Some Loud Thunder . I have a particular affection for that band. In 2004, I went out with some friends in NYC and we stopped by Piano. We decided to go check the band playing live. We thought they were cool, but since we were hungry, we left after few songs. Few month after... well... you know the story.Let's hope this 2nd record will be as good as the first. [...]

I've come across some quality new music this week. Everyone's looking forward to albums like Neon Bible and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, but most of the time it's the releases that catch you by surprise that end up being the best. The Ponys new album "Turn the Lights Out" is now out there waiting for you... I'm liking it a lot after a few listens. I was a fan of their last release, Celebration Castle, but I was by no means anticipating [...]

This is pretty much one of the coolest things I've ever seen: New York City's Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls provides instruction for girls aged 8-18 on how to be a kickass female rocker. Girls come from all over to learn how to play musical instruments, write songs, perform, learn about different types of music, and generally "rock out" in a way that too often eludes the fairer sex. I can only imagine the wonders that that does for their self-confidence. I know how invincible I felt the first [...]

i know... i'm a slacker, but after the holiday season i got sick. real sick. and then i had to drive my dad's car around having only the radio for entertainment. it has been terrible. but today i picked my car up and on the drive home i cranked up my stereo and sang obnoxiously loud all the way home. sorry for explaining all of that, but the moral of my story... radio + sickness = unmotivated music blogger. now that it's over, let's discuss some simply wonderful music that has pulled me out of my funk lately. [...]
Show Me Music favorite, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! have two new songs to download from their website. These are both songs from their new CD "Some Loud Thunder" to be released in January, and both are tasty little morsels. [MP3] Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Love Song No. ...
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah preceded the Arctic Monkeys in using the power of the internet to get their wares inside peoples earlobes. As the band furiously sent out their debut album from their apartment the order count started to go through the roof. The band were subsequently signed and can now direct their efforts to making the best music possible. A new album called ‘Some Loud Thunder’ is on
I'm sure you all know this already, but everyone's favorite yelp-rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are getting ready to roll our their sophomore album Some Loud Thunder on January 30th. The band's already released two songs, "Underwater (You and Me)" and "Love Song No. 7," for free download on their website, as well as a third song, "Satan Said Dance," on their myspace site . While certainly a nice gesture, both songs have left a lot to be desired from the rest of the album. The first of these two is a [...]
