Most of the time when I speak of associations they are probably so obscure not even my family would care to hazard a guess at what I'm talking about. So here goes, on 'Just To Say' by Clatter Clatter I am most reminded of English shufflers Alfie and Dublin's, long since deceased, Jubilee Allstars. Keith Nelson's vocals are particularly McCormackesque which may just alienate the 2 of you who have been reading up to this point. The song is taken from Clatter Clatter's 'Too Many Boxes' EP from 2009 and was recorded in disparate spaces throughout Boston. Seems it was [...]

There's something to be said for sheer replay value, and today's featured artist-- the Bostonian band Clatter Clatter -- has that in spades. This crew from the eastern seaboard can weave a serious hook, pulling together melody lines that will haunt your every waking moment until someone starts humming "Like A Prayer" (or any 80s pop song has a staying power that's almost primal). Graduates from the Berklee School of Music in Boston, it's clear these guys know music. Every instrument gets its day; there's nothing muddled or awkward about their sound, [...]

Change is good. Marcy at Lost In Your Inbox threw herself into the Obama campaign, so it's no wonder that now the job is done she's experiencing withdrawals with a beautiful song by Nina Nastasia and Jim White. Music Is Art features a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and prevention called Keep A Breast Foundation. To Die By Your Side features an impromptu composition by Ryan Adams that helps explain how Adams is such a prolific songwriter. It's the same impression I got when I [...]

Ah, yes, time for some shameless self promotion. Clatter Clatter is a band I'm in -- and I can't really talk about my own music, so here's what some others have said: From Late Night Wallflower : Although they have enough soul and bite to stand out from other indie bands these days, Clatter Clatter just want to have fun. Screw the trappings of being a musician! Playing great songs is their mission. As a New Yorker, I shouldn't be rooting for Bostonians, but whatever, they're good. From [...]
As I may have mentioned before, I'm currently a student at Berklee College Of Music in Boston. Well, I figured it was time for a little alumni pride list. Seeing as it is a music school, it's only logical that there happen to be quite a few excellent artists that have attended at some point in their lives. All of the music below has at least one former (or current) Berklee student in the band. Cool, huh? And this is only a smattering -- I didn't even mention any of the many famous jazz musicians [...]
