(No, it's not a Planned Parenthood story) Seemingly confused about their priorities, a small knot of studious students at St Martins in London have forced the axing of a Clinic gig . The students were worried the idea of a pop group playing music might somehow destroy their studies for a night, leading to the inevitable failure in final exams, enforced unemployment, and a downward cycle of drugs, depression, daytime tv and dating Pete Doherty until a cold, early death at the age of thirty trying to break into a freezer round the back of [...]

Seems like the kids over at Central St. Martin's in London got into a huffy about a possible Clinic gig 'disrupting their studies' and concesquencially the show has been cancelled. They even threatened to stage a sit-in! WTF! Maybe the surgical masks scared 'em. (Story via NME) As for US plans, the boys will FINALLY be back in the states in late Feb/early March. All info on their official site. [...]
I love you, Colorado. But I've decided you are a wuss. There is (a beautiful and powdery) 3 inches of snow on the ground this morning, tops. And it's a snow day . I say everyone should get some snowshoes and 4-wheel-drive, and life should continue as normal. Thank you. In the shutdown interim, here are a few odds & ends that are entertaining me this morning: ? A reader pointed me in the direction of mp3s from the KEXP session with The Rosewood Thieves [...]

Did you just play some W.C. Field or something?" -- Tom, wondering how Spike did a dead-on impression of his child-hating hero "Cold cereal’s not my thing." -- Spike, adding another item to his Don't Do List "You are [...]

Rating: 6/10 Modern Music Review Fourth studio album from this brilliant Liverpool band Clinic. They are a Liverpool based band, whose fast-paced, eclectic sound is at times loosely reminiscent of Can, The Velvet Underground, the Violent Femmes, Sonic Youth and Suicide. I thought that it was a effortless record at my first listen. By the time I saw that I was totally wrong about it. That's because
THIS WEEK'S FINDS week of Oct. 29-Nov. 4 "Last Cast" - End of the World A compelling mid-tempo rocker that's equal parts unresolved chords and resolving melodies. It's also equal parts playful bass line and insistently bashing cymbals, and as I listen I'm thinking these two things are related, somehow, as both oppositions--the harmonic one and the one within the rhythm section--foster a really chewy sort of dynamic, half unsettled and half really comfortable. I haven't praised the trio concept in a while, so I think I'll do that here, noting (yet [...]
John Peel fave, Clinic will have a new album on CD and heavy weight vinyl in North America on...

I love the new Clinic album. A lot. For those who have known me for the last 5 years, this should come as no shock whatsoever. I waited with baited breath for the release of Walking With Thee and played Internal Wrangler everyday solid for close to 6 months. When Winchester Cathedral was released about 2 years ago, I ran to Virgin Megastore to be the first to pick it up. Alas, that album was slightly disappointing. I was a little [...]

so this week is a little on the ridiculous side. 6 midterms, multiple assignments, work, five days, blah. the wee blog will suffer, i think. and while i feel bad...i am actually trying at school, so i don't really feel guilty for this thing taking a back seat for a week. that being said, if you think i would leave you empty handed, you clearly don't know me at all. here's some music. enjoy, and wish me luck...(oh and, i guess without meaning to, i have chosen an array of vaguely thematic songs...weird) the [...]
Due out Monday in th U.K. (no U.S. Release date listed), I heard about the new Clinic album yesterday while listening to WOXY. Like I said, it's a great resource to find out news about musicians and albums you might not otherwise have known about. Now, Clinic and I go pretty far back. I saw them several years ago (I think it might've been in 2003 or 2004) when they were touring to support
You can never over-value originality. The Liverpool-based band Clinic have been living and breathing originality on every album they have produced since their inception in 1997. Clinic consists of Ade Blackburn (keyboard, melodica, vocals), Brian Campbell (bass, flute, vocals), Hartley (guitar, clarinet, keyboards), and Carl Turney (drums, piano, backing vocals). They have released three albums on the London independent record label Domino Records , as well as a compilation of their first three EP's. Their fourth full-length album titled Visitations will be released on October 16th in the UK, followed [...]

Sure, you could say the forthcoming long-player Visitations from Clinic is more of the same thing they've been doing since their inception, hoisting ever-so-slight variations of past tunes onto the unsuspecting public in tracks like The Seeker , Harvest , Tusk and Paradise . Then again, you could say the same thing about Disco:Very , the only blog willing to tell the same exact joke again and again in posting after posting. [...]

Give thanks for good things! New Clinic tracks from Fluxblog and Blogs are For Dogs . Album is due 10/16. Clinic - Harvest Clinic - Family Clinic - Animal Human
Clinic "Animal Human" - Though they are still generally lacking the manic spark that made their first three records some of the most compelling art-punk of the past twenty years, Clinic sound far more focused and inspired on their forthcoming LP Visitations . Of course, this is all relative to their previous record, Winchester Cathedral , which the only dud in their discography, though not actually a bad album so much as a document of a band in an awkward creative [...]

The Cowbell has a vast and varied history. It's origin can be traced back to the days of herdsmen who used the cowbell to indentify which animals belong to their specific herd. The term cowbell took it's name mainly to it's use in tracking cattle (cows). The Cowbell also has it's roots in music mainly being a part of the percussion section of the band. You can read more about the Cowbell here . All the songs below incorporate the use of the Cowbell, some harder to recognize than others. Take [...]
