[[ This is a content summary only. Last Song (feat. Matt Berninger) by Clogs Clogs are a mostly instrumental project led by Bryce Dessner and Australia's Padma Newsome, both men familiar from their membership in the acclaimed rock band, The National. But don't call Clogs a side project. Their existence predates The National, and Clogs have released three widely acclaimed albums - a highly melodic debut THOM'S NIGHT OUT (2001), then the experimental polyphonies of LULLABY FOR SUE (2003), and finally the minimalist explorations of STICK MUSIC (2004). Check out their lovely song, "Last Song" above featuring vocals from their bandmate Matt Berninger [...]
"Shakori Hills Community Arts Center's mission is to provide an environment for community building through arts and education." The weather could not have been better for a four day weekend of communal music and dance at the Shakori Hills Grassroots festival . A diverse group of people gathered together all with one goal: to climb festival mountain. Festival mountain has many trail heads that all lead to the top. Some may choose to go the dancing route, and find themselves encountering the "whitest dance" around town: clogging. That's right, ladies and gentleman, a clogging workshop was led [...]
Padma Newsome of Clogs describes the band's latest album, Creatures In The Garden Of Lady Walton.
Here's a short playlist I made a few weeks back after seeing The National open for Arcade Fire in Chicago (I promise to write something about that soon). It seems like there's been a slew of one-off songs lately featuring the unearthly baritone of one of my favorite leading men, Matt Berninger, so I decided to throw all the ones I could find together. They're all varying degrees of awesome, but some stand out a titch more than others. The Forms song, for example, is hands-down one of my favorite songs of [...]

photos by David Andrako " Sufjan did not disappoint us. He came, he played banjo and sang We Were Here, acting in his self-effacing way just any other hired musician. It was a wonderful moment and a delightful surprise. But I don't want to sell Clogs short. The concert was delightful even before Sufjan arrived onstage. Clogs put on a beautiful show as part of the excellent Ecstatic Music Festival . [...]

With all the hype surrounding the National in recent years, it's easy to forget about Clogs, the experimental chamber quartet led by National guitarist Bryce Dessner and Padma Newsome. But a lesser notoriety has no relation to Clogs' capabilities, which are many. Moreover, if you're tempted to label the band as a side project of [...]

#30 Clogs - The Creatures In The Garden Of Lady Walton [...]

It's time again to turn the music down and put on your art-critic monocles and top hats. Yes, today is the day we judge 2010 releases strictly on their visual packaging aesthetics as opposed to their auditory aptitude. It's also a way to highlight the 'other' artists who have created the artwork and often don't get the credit besides a sub-par blurb in the liner notes. 2010 was filed with beautiful artwork and it has been a struggle to dwindle them down to 5, but alas, my favorites are to be found below. Just like last year [...]

MP3: Clogs- Last Song Song comes first. Play as you read. My last thoughts will be of a weekend Katie and I drove a car that wasn't a convertible to the shore. It was a Saab, but the sunroof and the windows were open, and it was the first warm day of the year, so I will remember it as a convertible. We drove through Alabama, Mississippi, and dropped into the sliver of Florida that lets you in on Earth's greatest secret: the ocean is empty. We had no [...]

I am afraid I have to announce to you that heels are not my thing (whaat? -Ed) Carrie Bradshaw has lead the way for women to love shoes, before her it was Marilyn Monroe who is quoted to have said "I don't know who invented heels but all women owe him a lot."
