Dan Black of the Servant has returned with a new single called "Alone", and I'm glad he's back. I didn't even know that The Servant had broken up, luckilly Mr. Black made up a substantial amount of the band's sound so his solo efforts are thoroughly satisfying. The Banshee are an electro/punk band from Genova Italy . Their post punk stylings call to mind the likes of Gary Numan, XTC, wire, Talking Heads and many others. Their music is rife with angled jagged riffs and huge grooves with gooey bass filling. Some artists like to stay safely within a sound, to work with what they're comfortable with to create songs. Dieter Schöön from France is not one of those artists. On his latest release "Lablaza" he combines classical sounding horns, accordian, strings and guitar with lo-fi blips, beats and beeps that sometimes shoot past you so fast they give you whiplash. His sound is something like if Beck and Peter Bjorn & John collaborated on an album with Clor producing. This week is all about dancing all night. I myself have never actually danced for an entire night - one of the main reasons is I've never found a place I would actually like to do so. My music tastes can be pretty picky so finding appropriate nightlife can be a problem, especially in my home city. I'm more likely to attend a late live gig rather than rave unto the sunlight. Unfortunately here we have another brilliant band that broke up only after one album...may I preesnt you with Clor! They were a 5 piece from the UK that could be compared to Devo.
