Saturday night is most definitely all right: ► Legendary pop singer Tom Jones headlines the Troubadour behind his new album "Spirit in the Room." ► Marina and the Diamonds [that's Marina, pictured] and Charli XCX team up for a big show at the Shrine Auditorium — they teamed up in the studio, too, before the tour to record a new song "Just Desserts," which you can download for free . ► My Morning Jacket's Jim James visits the Fonda Theatre behind his solo album, "Regions [...]

No seáis impacientes, [...]

batteryboy is an indie folk group that was once just a one man show featuring Cobey Rouse. Over time it has grown into a trio that includes Shannon Frid of Cloud Cult and Eric Carranza of Better Bones . Their sound is a soothing and relaxing one, perfect for those calm, contemplative moments. Rouse's guitar picking is accented by Frid's violin perfectly, all providing the backdrop for beautiful vocal harmonies. Throw Carranza's keys and guitar work into the mix and you've got yourself some nearly perfect tunes to just sit back and relax to. Their [...]

Yesterday was easily the most beautiful day we've had in Minneapolis this year. So, why not bike to the Cloud Cult CD Release Show at First Ave ? The band would have wanted me to enjoy the weather and protect the earth. I mean that. Craig Minowa and the rest of his earth-loving, big-hearted cohorts always seem so appreciative and modest that I wouldn't be surprised if they cared about each member of the audience individually. With a full house, Cloud Cult officially introduced us to the live experience that is Love . A [...]

Cloud Cult is one of those bands that has been on my radar for ages and, for whatever reason, I just hadn't gotten around to seeing them live until last Friday. In true "if I knew then what I know now" fashion, I can't believe I waited so long to check them out. It's pretty telling that Cloud Cult sold out the show, and Lincoln Hall was packed to the rafters. When I say “packed to the rafters,” you should probably bear in mind that Lincoln Hall has a second story balcony. Still, seeing the [...]

Team Ghost: Rituals -Call me unimaginative, or maybe just skeptical, but when you name your band “ Team Ghost ,” it sounds an awful lot like you’re setting yourself up for a traditionally unsettling instrumentals, maybe some creepy strings, and the kind of airy, wispy, half-there vocals that drive me slightly batshit when bands can’t pull them off with finesse. The good news? I was so very, very wrong about Team Ghost and their new album Rituals . And yet, Team Ghost isn’t a misnomer at all. Let’s start with the vocals; [...]

The latest release from Cloud Cult's hit album Love is the new video for "You're the Only Thing in Your Way." It's a mellow, stripped down tune that gets you thinking about your own life and where it's going. Check the video out below and let us know what you think.
The SOTO inbox is always full of cool stuff that never gets to see the light of day on the actual site, and I’d like to change that. So, every Friday I’ll be posting the best album streams and videos that were sent my way during the week. Take a scroll and find something worth remembering. Filed under: Video , Exclusive Cody York Experimental chamber pop mainstays Cloud Cult are celebrating the release of their latest studio album, simply titled Love , with the release of this video for "1x1x1." The big band, hailing from the Midwest, has 15 years and nine full-length studio albums to their credit -- no small feat in the rock world, especially considering their history of eschewing labels in favor of self-publishing their [...]
______________________________ ____ Anyone else notice there are so many songs that mention ghosts? Well, I did last night. It's no groundbreaking discovery, I know... Anyway, all these songs have the word 'ghost' in the title. That's pretty much it. Nothing more to it. I mean, they are all pretty great too... but yeah... ghosts'n'stuff. Enjoy.

Often times you get the feeling that albums are written about a particular relationship that the songwriter endured. Sometimes the lamenting continues across several albums. In 2002, lead singer of Cloud Cult , Craig Minowa, lost his infant son - much more emotionally taxing than a relationship that went south. Not surprisingly, any song Cloud Cult has released since 2002 has been influenced by the event. Yet, what is so compelling about Cloud Cult is Craig Minowa's ability to take a situation that might normally translate into something dark and/or depressed and turn them into songs about the beauty [...]

![[ALBUM REVIEW] Cloud Cult – Love](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4851628_lg.jpg)
In 2010, it was believed Feel Good Ghosts would be the last album we'd ever hear from the Cloud Cult . I'm not sure how much truth their was to that rumor, but with the band's ninth studio album, we are reminded once again how sad that reality would have been. Love , as with any Cloud Cult album, is immense in emotion and full of extravagant arrangements - a product of Craig Minowa and his fellow seven band members. The Duluth-based group is among an elite group of bands with eight or [...]

Cloud Cult (Photo: Cody York) Exclusive Interview: Cloud Cult by Chuck Norton March 23, 2013 Twenty years ago Craig Minowa didn't think he'd make a living out of music. An environmentalist with a degree in environmental science who started his own geothermal-powered farm in Minnesota, Minowa had other options outside of music. But it was music which would carry him through the next two decades. Minowa released his first album - on almost no budget - in 1995. Shunning offers from various labels, [...]
![[ALBUM] Wildlife – …On the Heart](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4830483_lg.jpg)
Wildlife's latest single got me from the first note. All I can picture is being at one of their shows and belting out every word along with the band. The newest single "Born to Ruin" can be found on their brand new album ...On the Heart . The album starts out with a slow, eerie tune before the drums hit hard in the aforementioned "Born to Ruin." After getting through only a dew songs of the album I began to compare to the group slightly to Minnesota natives, Cloud Cult , a band [...]
