Glasser songs sound like ancient tribal lullabies. Had the Vikings been lucky enough to hear her soothing melodies they wouldn't have done all that raping and pillaging. They'd be in Norway sipping fruit tea and practicing pilates. Ancient Scandinavia's loss is our gain. Here Glasser answers our 321 questions and gets a galactic makeover from the always amazing Astronomer.
One of Sweden's premiere electronic-pop acts releases their first full-length album in four years. With both infectious and atmospheric moments, its inconsistency issues are overshadowed by several gems.

The record of the month is easily the Credit To The Edit Vol. 2 EP on Tirk Records. Three neat mid-tempo classics covering three decades in dance music are presented here slightly re-freshed and re-EQ'd for your listening pleasure. Manchester DJ legend Greg Wilson doesn't go mad with the scissors here as he only subtly extends and re-arranges three records that regularly feature in his sets. My favourite is Roxy Music's timeless ' Love Is The Drug' . The EP also features 80's jazz funk classic ' Starlight ' by Escort and the rave [...]
Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser Pays Tribute to Fallen Echo & the Bunnymen Member Jake Drake-Brockman on New EP: Blurt has more info here . Isn't this the second motorcycle death in the Bunnymen circle? Makes me all the more worried for my own brother, whose primary transportation is a motorcycle. The track-list: Moses: 1. "Moses" 2. "Moses" (Thighpaulsandra remix) 3. "Moses" (Spaceland remix)

The holiday break has been great and I hope you all have been finding some time to rest and listen to new music. With this new playlist option I wanted to maybe drop in and make a few select artist playlist and why not start with a favorite like Cocteau Twins , let me know how you like these and if they flow well and if you want a few more. It's a tradition in the Bloggins home to celebrate DMXmas (wherein we enjoy our favorite introspective canticles from DMX over some hard cider or nog) in tandem with the more traditional interpretation of this most magical holiday. I've curated two fine mixers to mark both distinct occasions. From our family to yours, we wish you nothing but the best yuletime tidings. Merry fucking Christmas, dorks. Hope none of you all find the xx album in your stocking. That would be barftastic. DMXmas Mixer MP3 ::: [...]

The Cocteau Twins are a favorite of mine when I'm in the mood for some ethereal synth laden tracks with Elizabeth Fraser 's half-speaking/half-singing vocals soothing me along the journey. Half the time she isn't even saying anything, just using her voice to create a melody. Goldfrapp is another whom, at times, exudes vocals of this style and has noted the 'Twins as an influence. This track was written by Elizabeth in honor of her friend Jake Drake-Brockman (Echo and the Bunnymen, BOM, etc) that died this past September in a motorcycle [...]
elizabeth fraser - moses [with this single, does this mean that ex-cocteau twins singer elizabeth fraser is ready to release a solo album? though nothing is confirmed yet, the rumor mill is that she has enough material for an LP! until then, this electronic tango number will have to do...] http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld

In poche parole melodie [...]

The Wildhouse Genre: Indie / Pop From: Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom I've always been worried by bands who issue their own manifesto. They're usually po-faced, self important arseholes who think that living in a squat makes them superior to the rest of us drones. I've no such concerns with The Wildhouse because any manifesto that has a list of Turn Ons including Dali, Orange Juice, Montgomery Clift, The Buzzcocks, The Bunnymen and Love and a list of Turn Offs that's basically [...]

Frank Yang If you had told me that everyone piled into Lee's Palace on Sunday night wasn't, in fact, specifically a fan of The Big Pink but of British music from the '90s in general, I'd have believed it. For much/most/all of the appeal of the London-based duo and their debut A Brief History Of Love centers around how effectively they combine the best bits of shoegaze, Britpop and Madchester into new tunes that are instantly familiar to those who've dog-eared a copy or two of Select [...]
It's not often you see something billed as "their only interview this decade" and think "yes, I can believe that" - but somehow, I don't think we're going to see Liz Fraser popping up to do the same stories on Graham Norton next week, following her interview in yesterday's Guardian . Karl T is sure there's an angle: Liz (or Elizabeth, now she's all grown up) is interviewed in todays Guardian. I've checked the listings, and she's not performing her new single on X Factor this Saturday, but could the denizens of the jungle be [...]
"Golau Glau are an anonymous group of people who collectively create silverpop" This, plus a bunch of songs, is all the information readily available about the mysterious outfit. This deliberately sought anonymity forces listeners (and lazy reviewers) to confront the music and form an independent opinion but it does help that the tracks are extremely enjoyable [...]

i was one of the lucky 50,000 or so who got to see nirvana's second performance at the reading festival in 1992. it was my first visit, just for the day, and i'll never forget bouncing up and down with everyone else to "in bloom" trying to save my reading fest poster from getting crushed while clutching a plastic bag containing this great indie compilation cd. put together by melody maker, it's a pretty good survey of the early 90s indie scene with a good smattering of bands demonstrating the scene's inherent quirkiness. so i'm glad it didn't [...]
