![[MEGA Playlist] 60+ Instrumental Tracks You Need to Listen to](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4741497_lg.jpg)
Everyone loves lyrics. Whether they're light-hearted and playful, soul-gripping and gut-wrenching, or abstract and avant garde, we all love to sing along, relate certain verses to our personal lives, or just be taken away by another person's story. On the other hand, hearing a great instrumental track is an entirely different experience. Without having words to identify with, your brain is free to let the music create an image in your mind. The interpretation is more so up to you than if you had someone defining it with their own words. Having this blank canvas allows your mind [...]

Erased Tapes må være et af mine absolutte yndlingspladeselskaber. Indirekte er det meget tydeligt på Musik Mig Blidt, idet jeg har skrevet mange rosende ord om flere af de kunstnere, pladeselskabet har i stald. Særligt A Winged Victory For The Sullen , Ólafur Arnalds , Nils Frahm og snart Peter Broderick.
It's so cool that volumes one and two of the Best Songs of 2011 mixtape series have been such a huge hit - literally tens of thousands of page views in just a few weeks. Today's mixtape marks the third volume of the top 2011 songs series. If you didn't have a chance yet, it's [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Tweet When its kingpins start to sound like they're rehashing you know a genre is in trouble. I speak of Explosions In The Sky and their stale last album 'Take Care, Take Care, Take Care', and the genre they've electrified for the best part of a decade post-rock. Not many strands of indie do to me what those instrumentals can, most of what you'll find on 'Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place' made it onto our wedding video. Lately though thrills [...]

German-born Robert Raths is an explorer of the avant-garde, a pioneer of undiscovered music. In early 2007 he founded London-based Erased Tapes Records , unearthing a global spectrum of transcendent and diverse, electronically reformed, organic music. This summer brought us Erased Tapes Collection III , the third in a series of annual compilations of recent releases, and our introduction to Codes In The Clouds’ “Street Lights In The Distance (iambic Remix).” British experimental minimalists Codes In The Clouds create instrumental post-rock with ambient psychedelic and cinematic tendencies in the manner of La Monte [...]
Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Marina Celeste "Under My Skin" from The Angel Pop [ released 4/19/11 | electro-pop ] [ [...]

code in the clouds - we anchor in hope (again again) gay boiz - high level alchemy weed + foxes in fiction - teenaged dream dan matz - diamond eyes

I'm not usually so much a fan of instrumental post-rock stuff. I've blissed-out to some Explosions In The Sky on occasion, but overall it's not really my thing. That said, who can't appreciate massive crescendos that build and build then crash like ocean waves on rocky coastlines, right? I've been digging Codes In The Clouds and while it might fall outside my normal comfort zone, it comes highly recommended. Also feels like good music for this crazy Day After Tomorrow -esque weather. Usually when I get emails from artists trying to promote their work I just disregard them because I have plenty of other things to write about that I think are good. But when I received this track from Bruno Miguel of :papercutz, I could tell that [...]

Emotional instrumental rock in the vein of Explosions In The Sky or Pelican. Don't Go Awash In The Digital Landscape You Are Not What You Think You Are The Distance Between Us

Even though we just had a mention of them about a month ago, the music from the UK's Codes In The Clouds new album, Paper Canyon, is just so good it deserves another post. It's some of the best post-rock I've ever heard, their compositions just seem so naturally perfect. Hard to believe this album was put together in just a few days. Highly recommended. A look at what can be called, a new resurgence of progressive rock that follows a pattern of perfection, while keeping the idea of creativity alive inside the bounds off face value redundancy.

Codes in the Clouds are a British post-rock band formed in July 2007. Consisting of Dartford, Kent natives Stephen Peeling, Ciaran Morahan, Rob Smith, Jack Major, and Joe Power, the group plays instrumental post-rock with cinematic qualities. They are signed with the independent, London based label Erased Tapes Records. Their debut album, Paper Canyon is set to be released on September 15, 2009 in the United States, and has already been released in the UK. They recorded the album in 5 days with Justin Lockey (Bloc Party/Milo/Enter Shakari) and were quickly picked up [...]
