Last week, in a BBC 6 Music interview with King Creosote and Jon Hopkins about their Mercury-nominated album Diamond Mine, Kenny Anderson mentioned his songbook. Now there's a thought. I'm trying to imagine a songbook big enough to hold all the songs written by one of the most prolific songwriters ...

The Floydcast is named after that furry fuckwit in the picture: the Song, by Toad house cat and Mrs. Toad's imbecilic companion of the last seven years. Last night we had him killed. I know you're supposed to say 'put to sleep' or whatever, but when the poor wee fucker is looking plaintively at you because you're the only person at the vet's that he actually trusts it really does feel like execution. We think he had lung cancer of some form or other. His lungs had clouded up, the vet had tried more or less every trick [...]

Apparently no-one visits websites anymore, because it's all about the social media and so on and so forth, so I suppose most of you have already seen this. In case you haven't, however, I have uploaded a free Song, by Toad Records sampler to Bandcamp, with songs from some of our more recent releases, as well as a healthy dose of new material from the releases we have planned for the rest of the year. Our release schedule is slowly filling up, as well. Before a brief break for the Edinburgh Festival we have four-song 73 [...]
The first few bands included in this week's Best New Releases include fairly unknown bands; and therein is our point. The Pass are a self-described psychedelic/new wave pop band from Louisville, Kentucky. Earlier this year they crossed our radar when they sent us their first single, "Cross Walk Stereo." The song made into our Top [...] Related posts:Random Order Playlist, Vol. I: A Classic Education, Short Circuit, Metal on Metal, Mommyheads, Dark Dark Dark, Vinegar Socks Recent Releases That Almost Got Away: The Pass, Secret Cities, City Light, Scanners, Sambassadeur, David Vandervelde & More In Dee Mail Special [...]

Monday - Dundee's finest, The A Forest kicked off the week with some Fresh Meat action Tuesday - Tired Pony 's session for NPR, plus more excitingly there was an interview with my fellow blogger Ed from 17 Seconds was the fourth DIY label that got a little feature, if you haven't checked out his label then make sure you do as he's put some cracking records in the past few years. Including the new album this weeks featured Scots Way-Hay band Wednesday - The [...]

We're in Anstruther this weekend for Homegame, and so we got incredibly pissed late at night and recorded a podcast for you all, just as a special extra Sunday Supplement. This should give you a taste of our Homegame fun and, sadly, also an idea of just how much of a wreck we all make of ourselves in Fife once a year. Honestly, this is my favourite festival in the fucking universe, possibly only equalled by Pickathon, which is incredibl e. Toadcast #113 - The Anstercast 01.Withered [...]

I do try and avoid shilling for the label on this blog, because no-one wants to read a twice-daily sales pitch, but I reckon it's okay to have a look forward at what we've got planned for the year. That's what the new year is for, really, isn't it? So I've got a nice big release schedule drawn up, just like real record labels do, and honestly it scares the shite out of me. I can pretty much plan out my free time for the whole of the next twelve months just looking at it, but there are [...]
