Calgary's Women is still my favorite band. Hearing about their so called "break" left me feeling all bummed out. Hoping the band will get back together. Women — Bullfight To those still suffering from ' Public Strain ' withdrawal, fear not-there's still leftovers to be had. Fresh jam "Bullfight" appeared on a recent split with Fair Ohs , Cold Pumas , and Friendo . While it doesn't have the punch-in-the-gut factor of "Eyesore" or "Narrow With The Hall", it should help tide you over till they kiss and make up (fingers crossed). [ mp3 ]

The thunderous gods converge once more on the black mountain peak where their three acolytes have summoned them. Dalston, London's Male Bonding (pictured above) released a split 73 single with Brighton's Cold Pumas last September on Faux Discx. Seeing that the 73 is now sold out, the two bands are being quite magnanimous, offering up both songs - 'Stare at My Problems' (Male Bonding at their usual 'nyah nyah nyah' best) and 'Altered Yeast' (Cold Pumas, who I'd never heard of before but should be right up your alley if you're a Male Bonding fan) - for free download. Brighton label Faux Discx have just announced the release of a Canada/ UK split 73 for early January 2011. The 73 will feature a brand new track by Women called "Bullfight" as well as a contribution from Friendo (featuring Michael of Women) in the shape of "Pass Times". In a black tinsel hung room that resembles a warped Anti-Claus grotto, Santa is nowhere to be seen. Instead Cold Pumas are going hell for leather with guitars that sound like sticking your head in a washing machine and pressing fast-spin cycle. No Soup For You Like the self-combusting Explode Into Colors , the visceral Foot Village , or even the viscious HEALTH , Cold Pumas exorcise their daily malaise in extended mutant dance, post punk and psychedelic hardcore.
